Top 10 Stereotyped Characters in Teen Movies

Top 10 Stereotyped Characters in Teen Movies

The queen bee, the band geek, the bully, the class clown, the jock, the cheerleader. You wont find a teen movie without any of these teen movie stereotypes! Though teen movies are pretty predictable and the plots are never really that unique, its the familiar characters such as these that make us love to watch them! I never liked the stereotype that the rich kids are always evil, diabolical, and bullies. I don't know about everyone else, but at my school this was not the case at all. It was the kids who didn't have much, and had a rough home life, that were the ones everyone was terrified of. The rich kids at my school would have never messed with the poor kids.

How ON EARTH is Heathers not ANYWHERE on here?
Heather Chandler totally trumps Regina as a queen bee, since she was STILL a queen bee AFTER she died. Kurt and Ram are a combination of bully characters and dumb/mean jocks. Martha would is a great example of a misfit kid, and, in my opinion at least, JD is the BEST example of a rebel character.
Sooo. how on earth is it not on here?
Edit: NVM, it's at he very end, but I still think it should be a whole lot more prevalent in the video, since so many characters fit into so many categories.

Oh, man, the drama kid. Yep, that was me in high school. I was a total drama nerd and damn proud of it. Some of my fondest high school memories are from drama class and the shows we did. Great times.
Also, I'm surprised the list didn't include the fake average girl, the one who's supposed to represent every teenage girl, the one who's supposed to be average in terms of looks but is still perfectly pretty even by conventional standards, the one who's supposed to be the shy wallflower no boy will ever notice. .. until she gets a makeover.

I m considered the grand queen bee. Its not like real life. I dont get why they say all popular girls are mean, or something. Im against bullying. I feel like the main reason Im considered one is because I fight bullies, I participate in class alot. Like Im the dance and cheerleading captain. Oh and the whole mean girl cheerleading thing is also so weird. Im just a girl who likes to dance, and cheer haha! Anyway, I always try to study oh and Im gladly not perfect!

Heathers breaks SO MUCH streryotipes, I love it.
1. The people on the top don't have problems.
2. The bad people on the top are Just misunderstood
3. The gril protagonist needs a boyfriend (talking about the movies at the time)
4. There is a good reason/need of the social lader.
5. Veronica in the start, even if concerned about that, still follows the rules and is not very high moraly ahead of the Heathers.

Also the New Kid. They either: a)Moved from all the way across the county, state, country, or world, and have no idea what the school is about and usually make a fool of themselves on the first day
b) Have some sort of super power that they're new to and they have no idea what the superhuman world is like, or
c) they aren't new, but no one knows who they are until they make a huge social leap.

In my school the popular kids are not the richest, the prettiest or handsome, nor the cheerleaders and jocks, the popular ones are the ones that always get a honor roll and have the best grades of the rest of students, and everyone is willing to be just like them. _.

Every teen movie have a cool boy or girl who is popular or not, smart or not they seem to rise above the social groups in high school, the wannabes who doesn't seems to be a part of any social group.

I was a little bit sad that The Cronies/Sidekicks didn't get past the list. I was really expecting Karen Smith (Mean Girls 2004) saying, On Wednesdays we wear pink. LOL

Was anyone waiting for Heathers to show up on here? That movie has so many stereotypes, including the popular girls, rebels, outcasts and jocks.

#7 But isn't that realistic? I was one of those in high school, though I didn't complain about it or try any zany schemes to become popular.

Not to be nit-picky, but these examples would more accurately fall under archetypes instead of stereotypes, don't you think?

Chanel Oberlin is more of a queen bee than Regina George. But then again. Regina has redeemable qualities unlike Chanel
