This classic Disney movie may have been around for quite some time but there are so many fun facts you may not have known about it! Did you know that Disney had a unique ploy to entice Robin Williams to come on board? That Aladdin Originally Had a Mother? That Jafar Was Inspired By Maleficent?

It saddens me that of ALL the characters that they could have selected from the Tales of the Arabian Nights, they selected Ja'far - a recurring character (based on a real person - Ja'far ibn Yahya) who always played the protagonist or a protagonist's sidekick - to be the villain.
I can understand why they changed the setting from China to a mythical Middle Eastern kingdom, but WHY vilify a real-life good-guy?

You also forgot to mention that film nearly had resemblance to Thief and the Cobbler, which Richard Williams worked with Disney at one point before he went to work alone on the film. But Disney had no idea on Thief film because they work on it directly. Also Robin Williams said he does Genie for minimum wage if he had full credit and his character wouldn't be used for merchandising.

Here's another fact: On the Full House episode where the Tanner family goes to Walt Disney World, due to missing him so much, the oldest daughter DJ imagines her boyfriend Steve (played by the guy who voiced Aladdin) as Aladdin when she and her sisters visited Aladdin and Jasmine. Ironic wasn't it?

And a piece of political trivia, public policy polling showed that 30% of Republicans would support bombing fictional Agrabah if it's real and 41% of trump supporters in that statistic. But 99% of Disney fans would find that poll weird and strange and possibly silly

It's ironic a connection between Jafar and Maleficent was mentioned. Many fans of the show Once Upon A Time believe Jafar is the father of Lily, Maleficent's daughter.

Though there are similarities with Maleficent, Jafar was actually inspired by Conard Veidt's character in The Thief of Bagdad, along with Abu and the Sultan

I really don't like the fact they're making a live movie version with Will Smith, I like Wil Smith but the
Genie belongs to Robin Williams

My 4th favourite movie of all time. Robin Williams was brilliant as Genie. RIP. gone but not forgotten. Now Will Smith is gonna be Genie(rumors.

Movies from my childhood still hold a special place in my heart, and this will always be remembered as one of them. :)

If they had made Treasure Planet a musical, that song Proud of Your Boy would've been perfect for Jim to sing instead.

The stage show began in Toronto, not Seattle--I know 'cause I was there for one of the first performances: )
