well be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Dancing with the Stars Scandals and Controversies oh and to add about the previous dance experience crap the show is not based on not knowing how to dance, it has to do with learning how to ballroom dance, not the same thing! ballroom is not as easy as it looks, ive taken ballroom dance and i have previous dance experience myself i can say its not easy and definitely a different style! there gymnasts who have been on there who know how to dance, musicians who were on there who know how to dance so the point is to learn ballroom from a pro! Duh!\r\n

I do think that Derek Hough got paired with Celebs who had more of a dancing background way too often. It was not fair to the other Pros. It would have been fun to see a great pro dancer like Louis Van Amstel have a great partner and win the Mirror Ball trophy or at least get into the finals. I also agreed with Karina Smirnoff that for Derek's sister to be a judge gave him an unfair advantage. I think that Karina left the show over this and I can't say that I blame her.

In my country (Slovakia) we've had 5 season of Dancing With The Stars so far. 4 of them were won by professional actors/actresses. Why? Because they have experience in theatrical movement, dancing in musicals, and overall having a professional stage presence, without being a classical professional dancer. Why is having a previous dancing experience a no. 1 controversy? It's like saying having a previous singing experience is controversy for, Idol, or The Voice.
reply

anyone with choreography, musicals, ice skating, gymnastics, etc. should not be allowed as obviously they have previous experience and know how to move with music. Arguing it's different is bs and just excuses. I haven't watched this for over 5 years because of the obvious fixing of winners and C grade dancers. I maybe know one or two of the so called celebrities', really digging the bottom of the basement reality TV and has beens here.

There is a very easy way to tell the show is rigged. I have seen more than 1 couple make the exact same mistake with their foot work. 1 couple will get called out for it, the other couple will receive praise for it. If it isn't the foot work, then their knit picking little things. A heel caught in a skirt, the pro messing up while their amateur partner gets it right. So they blame the amateur despite the pro owning it.

9: 30 I dont remember hearing any complaints about previous dance experience (regardless of the style) when James Maslow was on the show clearly it didnt matter that much that Alfonso had been on broadway because we got Mackenzie Ziegler, Zendaya, Corbin Bleu, Jordan Fisher, Heather Morris, Normani, shall I go on about other celebrities who had previous dance experience when they appeared on their seasons?
reply

Its called carisma! Alfonso has s both. as far as the contestants, they are out there getting Paid, they can have an option but dont bring down the house if youre not winning (or are winning) depending on whos crying. One more thing. having a sister judging her brother is not a bad thing, matter of fact she will probably be harder on him because she knows his potential.

If you want to talk about previous dancing experience, lets look at the pair of ice dancers that were two of the contestants on the show
Also, the thing that Dancing with the Stars needs to learn to define is what stars are. I know people have different interpretations of that but reality TV personalities are not stars. Social media influencers are not stars.

Previous dance experience is not the only thing that gives an edge. Athletes are used to punishing schedules and persistent pain. Gymnasts, specifically, will outperform anyone when it comes to lifts and throws. Singers have musicality. DWTS is entertainment. Maybe just don't take it so seriously. Except for Bristol Palin voters. You all are the worst.

What about the obvious? NO Black Women Profressional Lead Dancers, Really? That's why I stopped watching it. Let's hope Tyra Banks can influentially change that! There also have been alot of GREAT Black women partner dancers who seem to get soo close. and lose (Zendaya, Brandi, Nicole - still love her Tango dance with Derek.

I sometimes enjoy watching this show if I like an athlete or celebrity on the show. But like all reality shows you need to take it with a barrel of salt. You have to improve as a dancer obviously but its much more important to stay interesting and be the character the producers want you to be. Its fun but its junk TV.

C'mon people! Why is Cloris Leachman getting a total pass here? She took this show like it was a total joke to her! That old battle-ax beat out Toni Braxton! I loved Carrie Ann Inaba ripping into her and the audience by pointing out how Braxton got voted off the show for Cloris and she thought it was sad!
reply

what about mel b? she had the most points and definitely outdanced helio. she had the eddie murphy scandal a few months before the show. so the voting obviously went somewhere else. AND SABRINA BRYAN? i stopped watching DWTS because i voted so much for mel and maks. it wouldve given maks his first win too.
reply

the people who accuse celebs of prior dance experience have never danced a day in their life solo dancing and partner ballroom dancing are pretty much 2 entirely different sports. ballroom dancing is an entirely different set of skills and any dancer will tell you that, it is like starting from scratch.
reply

Previous dancing experience is such a shit excuse as ballroom is hard and they're just as new to it as anyone. Heather Morris Mackenzie Ziegler both got ripped. I hope JoJo wins this season and is not just being used for her fame for the show like they clearly did with Mackenzie.
reply

I feel like even if Alfonso did have any dance classes its no different than any famous pop star on there like Carlos or James from bigtime rush, Nick Carter or the new girl from spice girls. They have all obviously had some form of dance lessons so thats a crappy excuse. XD
reply

Hannah winning over Kel. She was such a poor sport the entire season and you could see Kel literally pleading to himself that he hoped he won. He worked way harder and I think because Hannah was so popular with the Bachelorette scandalous that they let her have it.
reply

Im sorry but the number one scandal was the judges rigging the score to make Kelly Monaco the winner. They gave her perfect scores after she fell during her dance because the only way she could win was with a perfect score. Theres no bigger scandal than that.
reply

The people that boycotted because of Chaz bono, they should be Ashamed of themselves just a bunch of Homophobic people. Who cares if a trans woman or man wants to be on the show, let them they are still Human Beings, people need to get over themselves.
reply

Okay, but do people not understand that Ballroom dancing and say, Broadway dancing are literally not the same? But Alfonso and Jordan Fisher- NOT THE SAME. But Zendaya was on shake it up NOT. THE. SAME. Is it really that hard to understand?
reply

The important thing to remember about dancing with the stars is that its mainly a popularity contest, NOT a dance contest. Most people just vote for the celebrity they like, instead of who they think danced the best.
reply

Zendaya had previous dance experience: she also had a good understanding of musicality and Meryl Davis was an ice skater: she was basically a dancer, but on ice so it wasn't just Alfonso Ribeiro who had some dance experience.

Its mad if you think Julianne would have judged Derek better than he deserves. If anything their competitive and professional standards would have driven Julianne to microjudge Derek, not pad his scores.
reply

Now please add when len didnt give Charlie a 10 on week 5 with her anxiety Dance it was so good although I think that only happened because they wanted Selma to get the first perfect score
reply

my roman empire is bobby bones winning over milo or even any of the other finalists. i think they just wanted to finally give sharna a mirrorball because bobby was not the best finalist at all
reply

#1- Who cares? The experienced dancers are more fun to watch than the two-left-footers. (Bristol Palin, Sean Spicer, Lamar Odom, Paula Deen, Kim Kardashian, Kate Gosselin, Bobby Bones)
reply

I voted for James Maslow every week and I don't remember ever getting a message saying my vote was for Meryl and Maks but if that happened that's crazy unfair
reply

Still can't believe that Bristol Palin made it past week 3. I quit watching the show because it thrives on controversy rather than talent. So frustrating.
reply

Hard to believe the winner is the man responsible for the Carlton? Have you ever seen ANYONE correctly do that dance other than Alfonso? Didn't think so.
