The main problem still rears it's ugly head; not a single mention of a game by name that's worth spending the obscene amount of money they are asking for these headsets. I also find it funny that there is a line in here about -why would you want to watch a game when you can be in it? -, when the last video about VR posted here showcased Minecraft, and talked about how the best part was the couch mode, where you sit on a Minecraft couch, looking at a Minecraft TV to play Minecraft on. in VR.
It's too soon for this stuff, because it has to be perfect and cheap to catch on, and Rift, Vibe, Hololens, are neither of those things.

Everyone Keeps saying that The Htc is better. i say Not. I have The devoper Kit 2 of the Oculus And when your in VR sitting or standing is safe. Walking around and Bumping into Stuff is Not. unless you have an empty room in your house, dedicated to the Vive setup, with sensors everywhere. but it still hurts hitting, or walking into walls?
i can't wait for the Consumer version to Arrive. The best experiences are not The Launch Titles, But Older games Like Half life 2 With 3rd Party Drivers Like tridef. and racing sims are brilliant!

Why do people say -Rift is better because it is cheaper-? Vive comes with VR controllers as well as a more extensive sensor array out of the box. When Oculus Touch comes out, its going to cost $200, making the price the same. However, you still don't have the freedom like with HTC Vive.

tl: dr:
Expensive, expensive, expensive.
Seriously, what a horrible review. You tried too hard to try and be the first ones to review this piece of hardware and it shows in the quality of both the article and the video. I don't even know why I'm surprised coming from Polygon.

reply

So basically Oculus. -Blew-it BIGTIME? -
To expensive, absurd no walk around, wrong controllers. (and the right ones not only costing -even more- but not released yet. And Vive in 2 weeks. sigh.

My CPU is slightly under the minimum requirements for the rift but the rest of my pc is up to date for it, can I still run Oculus?
(CPU: AMD fx-8320 3. 50 ghz)

I really don't understand (aside from extra software programming) why adding a second sensor to your room wouldn't make this operate like an HTC Vive
reply

it wasnt a full review if you were all observant part way through a message flashed asking you to read full review. which makes this a preview

An oculus and a powerful pc for $1500? Toooo expensive.
Wait the iPhone 7 is coming out and its $1200. Already preordered it

reply

They charge an extra US $182. 00 just for shipping it to Australia. lol. The total comes to about AU $1200.

Polygon is such a shitty company. Shitty review. So not enthused. I've seen all reviews and this is horrible.

I'm waiting for a few years. the games currently just look lame. Maybe the 3rd gen wave of games will improve
