Baby Dinosaurs in VR! GAMEPLAY from Robinson: The Journey on PlayStation VR

Nick Robinson goes hands-on with an extended chunk of Crytek's upcoming dinosaur-driven PlayStation VR title, Robinson: The Journey Trying PSVR for second day. Well, calibrating camera and headset really helps. But I think it might depend on game. I have Resident Evil in my demo disc (from PS store, all objects in -kitchen- are close and it looks wonderfully realistic. On the other hand DriveClub VR. meh. Cars further than 20 meters away looks like just blobs no details at all. But Resident Evil -kitchen- thats fantastic. Not sure maybe VR is not good enough to render something that is far away or the games are not equal - some render well some not. But really dissapointed with Driveclub, and really give 10/10 to Resident Evil (or just Kitchen episode that I have experienced.\r\n

The game seems to be running at 24 fps, like the shadows and detail are recreated on a diferent pace than the real fps, as it moves very slowly it becames possible, the textures are much worse than i expected, i guess i will wait to see how it will do on PS4PRO, if its the same I will jump on the PC boat.

graphics must be being dumbed down for the recording right? like maybe vr recording is much worse than what you are actually seeing on the headset. can you please comment on this, I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that want to buy this thing and would like to know this before buying.

Thats so weird, i have that gane and the puzzle in the jungle is way different for me, i see the dinosaur and i can feed him so he can let me pass, but the i dont have vines to let me get to the bird nest. been searching for that for the last 4 days and i am so stuck haha
reply

It's shame nobody realizes that the image they're seeing is coming from the TV and NOT the headset, smh. Plus, once you have the headset on, none of what you THINK is an issue is an actual issue once you're in the game. Bunch of VR noobs, lol.

Am I the only one that thinks VR is holding games back? I don't own one myself but from what I've seen so far it hasn't grown into anything other than a gimmick. The annoucment trailer for this had me incredibly hyped until saw it was for PS VR
reply

So have they taken move support out? Seems a bit weird how the multi tool resembles the move still, I understand movement is an issue with the moves but I'm sure I saw a video of someone climbing using them in this game.
reply

It looks okay, however not for the price they ask. It reminds me the fate of Nintendo Virtual Boy. It seemed okay too. But now nobody even remember what that was except collectors. I assume same fate is waiting for VR.

Does this play at a higher resolution in person or does it look like this? Not to sound elitist or anything but if this is the output the Playstation VR does I certainly won't be buying one, it's very disorientating.
reply

When you have the headset on and the world is around you and in 3d, a lot of people quickly forget about the lower resolution cause you start feeling immersed. I wouldn't judge it too much until you see it in actual VR.

So. the amazing video we saw in E3 was only a rendered CGI and this is the shitty final result?
A walk through a PS3 textures game with wheatley and two Mickey Mouse floating hands?

reply

now that the psvr is out i can't wait for this game the headset looks amazing, also it great that you will be able to use move controllers cause this remote thing would be horrible,

I played Robinson at the Gamescom this year and to be honest I think the quality of the video is really really again REALLY bad! The game itself looks gorgeous in VR and I loved it!
reply

Ahhh. so instead of exploring and playing basketball in real life. I play it simulated in VR. a step forward for all mankind. (HA! - just kidding - I love this stuff)
reply

They give you a device (in-game) that looks like a Move controller, but you don't actually use a Move controller?
Is that just the control scheme you selected?

reply

Kind of ruins the point of vr. Moving your head and body is what's immersive about it. Not 3d to the max. I'd get motion sick from jerking around like that.
reply

onestly the -game- seems very boring and too linear.
it seems a sort of tech demo, but on psVr is not that good to see like on htc vive and oculus rift.

reply

is the reason why it's not moving perfectly with your head because it was stabilized in post? Also did you notice any nausea, ghosting or screen door effect?
reply

That looks really amazing. I can't wait for next generation of that tech that will allow for tactile interactions (power gloves instead of controllers.
reply

For people wondering about the graphics it looks better with the headset.
Almost all PSVR screen gameplay looks like shit for some reason.

reply

I've noticed latency in loading objects! And It's too bad. Is this PS4 or Pro version? I hope these problems will be solved in retail version.
reply

confusing looking game. on one level it looks realy boring but on another i think with the immersion it could be so beatiful and exciting.
reply

i think they should remake the move controller so we can use the analog stick bc it doesnt feel that great with a regular controller
reply

Got to love all these floating hand VR games. perfect to feel -fully immersed. -
I love this VR crap, but is a body too much to ask for?

reply

Why was the camera so jerky? Was it because he was also controlling the camera on the controller instead of just using his head?
reply

I thought psvr would look like ps2 because of the extra resource drain, but this looks pretty sweet! Might preorder it
reply

i rather wait for the Nervegear to become a reality. that is what true immersive experience should be. not this infant device
reply

I saw the digital copy of this game was pushed back to December of next year. Is this no longer a day-obe launch title? :(
reply

farout so many butt hurt xbone and pc gamers bashing ps vr. Get over it just because your gaming devices are lame.
reply

Wonder if the controller-type motion makes folks sick on this one. refresh rate is kinda low on psvr, right?
