May I ask why you disregarded the caretaker's alcoholism in the book when creating this? I'm not so sure it's why actually drove him mad, but I think this chapter of the episode was really playing off that.
Just my view, I'm not an internet jerk.

Has anybody thought if Sherri and Terri were in this segment they could have played the creepy twin girls who were hacked to pieces by their father and came back as ghosts? As many times I've seen this, I never thought of it until now.

Counter-point to this amateur-hour nonsense: The Shinning is the most important Treehouse of Horror segment because it does a better job in 7 minutes than Kubrick did in two and a half hours.

-It's a stark portrayal of addiction and reliance on any kind of escapism- My eyes rolled so hard they exited their sockets and landed in the trashcan. This is embarrassing.

In my opinion the shining and the raven are the best episodes. :) I enjoyed them simply the most. Maybe also where Lisa needs braces, because if the protest song

I absolutely believe this is the funniest Treehouse of Horror short ever. The comedy is excellently written and comes at you thick and fast.

The most memorable line for me has always been -We're just gonna have to wait and see! - That's such a classic mom answer to a child's question.

This is one of my favorite Treehouse of Horror episodes. I think some of the writers for the Simpsons are Stanley Kubrick fans.

I haven't seen this episode since I was a kid, so I've never viewed it through this lens. I found this really interesting!
