Also, if you don't even really know much about Superman, Wonder Woman, or Batman, and want to know where to start, pretty much every DC diehard will have a preferred -ultimate story- for each of them. For me personally, it would go Superman -> Superman For All Seasons and All Star Superman (the comics, Batman -> Batman: Mask of the Phantasm/The Killing Joke/Batman: Snow/The Long Halloween/HUSH (in that order, WW -> The Legend of WW (recent series, easy to find, Wonder Woman movie (both the 2017 and animated, then for flavor The True Amazon.
I love 52 as well, mostly for featuring Renee and introducing the new Batwoman, but I loved the Booster Gold story too. Looking forward to more of this series, it was sorely missed. Even though I tend to know a lot of the info presented, it's nice to have a refresher or remind me to read something I put off reading, and to have a concise, easily accessible info dump for friends with comic questions that they would be more likely to watch it than read it.

I started up my DC adventure with Geoff Johns' Green Lantern: Rebirth. His universe is pretty integral to the DC universe, and the Darkest Night/Brightest Day storylines really make some of the more minor characters shine through, which definitely helped in terms of not just getting the Green Lantern universe, but the DC universe as a whole. Just the right length before Flashpoint started and turned the continuity on its head, read all that, and now i'm making my way through the New 52. Damn, comics are awesome.

Man, I know post Infinite Crisis was an interesting time for loads of DC readers but I still feel the sting of losing my favorite Batgirl (cass cain) to a ridiculous evil heel turn. It's a bitter pill to swallow when it seems her character is still well loved but is really fighting to get page time these days.

The 1994 run of Starman really made me appreciate Ralph and Sue as this genuine couple. Like, we have a lot of solid couples in the DCU but Ralph and Sue were this genuine team who solved actual crimes and mysteries together.
Which is why what happened to them both is the most tragic thing in all of comics.

I loved Grant Morrison's Chinese super-team, The Great Ten. they really only got to shine in 52, the truncated miniseries, and some bit parts in Checkmate. Much like Morrison's Seven Soldiers, they got sidelined by editorial and erased by Flashpoint. Ripe for a comeback now New 52 is. fluid

I hope more people get into DC, I feel with their string of sub par movies they've got a bad wrap.
I've always loved DC Comics and Animated Releases. I think people judge DC as a whole unfairly when they only cite the (recent) movies.

52 is the best. A true love letter to the DC Universe and also my first real foray into the broader verse. Sadly, outside of the followup Booster Gold comics I haven't found anything I like as much D:

Booster Gold deserved more love and information. He isn-t just that. He-s WAYyyy more complex and a damn good character that speaks on loyalty, redemption, love, destiny, and doing the right thing.

Welcome back to the Issue at Hand crew and Susana, too! I can't wait to see what you got for us this season. (Hint: maybe an episode about Swamp Thing or Constantine? Please)

I didn't know anything about 52 the series, definitely not what I expected! I think I definitely have to read Gotham Central first though, I keep forgetting.

Arguably, Starfire isn't SUPER obscure thanks to the two successful Teen Titans cartoon series, not Trinity levels or anything but still.

I'd also recommend the four issue mini series Books of Magic for anyone looking to get into DC's supernatural/magical side of things.

Excitement! As someone who only has tertiary knowledge of comics I genuinely missed Issue at Hand. Glad to see it back for more!

Saw the first collected trade volume of this at my local used book store, I'll have to go pick it up tomorrow and dig in.

52 was my introduction to DC as a larger universe, and it's perfect for that purpose. Great recommendation.
