1980 was a great year for music. There was so much diversity. The list of songs also prove that people who say that disco died in 1979 was wrong and is a myth. While not as dominant as it was in 1978 and 1979, there were still plenty of disco sounds in 1980, which this list proves.

I do notice a lot of songs from mid 1979 to mid 1982 seem to get overlooked when it comes to them talking about Top 40 music, it's like a lot of these songs haven't survived past the pre-MTV era of pop music that became popular once Prince and Michael Jackson became very popular.

ABBA. BoneyM. Be Gees. Seolah aku selalu menyanyikan lagunya setiap hari.
Tetapi dua group yg sangat terkenal di Indonesia ( The Cats dan The Classic) kok tidak pernah masuk dalam daftar ya
Apa karena bukan lagu disco

Hey guys I believe you guys forgot AC/DC's Back in Black or Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen or Fashion by the late great David Bowie or The Babys hit song Back On My Feet Again also Train In Vain vu the Clash

Awesome songs born 1979 so 70s baby tbh everything post 2000 i dont grasp even the music, brought up by parents born in 1930s, so I understand 50s 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s but confused after that, baffled by wokism. Great year!

I grew up in the 80s so I know every song is awesome. But I have to say that Air Supply is one of the best. 30 years later I still listen to Air Supply.

When you listen to his 1979 and 1980 videos back to back, you hear a clear step forward in quality
Nothing competes with 80's music.
Nothing,

1980! What a fun year for music, some songs still hanging on to the 70’s disco vibe, and some great 80’s new wave dance songs.

The Police-Don't Stand So Close to Me---At least 6' apart!
Who knew how relevant that song would be 40 years later!

ten minutes of only one year to throw away almost all today's music. End of 70s and early 80s are lightyears ahead in music.

1978-1982, great era of cool music mix of end of disco and beginning of synthy pop/new Wave. roller discoe and Xanadu

1980 was definitely a transition year. The '70s hadn't fully died out but the '80s as we know it hadn't started yet!

Another great video. Some brilliant tunes here, proving once again that the 80s is the best decade for music.

Many of these were fabulous and incredible. a few here were dire and played to death on the radio.
