Great to compare USA with Europe. Europe had the better chart by far.
Australian charts would be closest to the European one I would think.

As an American, it's interesting to see songs popular at different moments in time in Europe. This chart is from June, 1985, but in the States Dancing In The Dark was a hit during the summer of 1984, while So Far Away didn't get radio airplay until the spring of 1986, not long after Rock Me Amadeus and Live Is Life.

Cutting down to top five: two songs as iconic as movies they came from ( Duran Duran / Simple Minds, two incredible electroinstrumental hits ( Axel F and 19) and the no1 spot goes to world rulling songs. what a weekend it must have been: )

Modern Talking were huge throughout Europe, I'm really surprised they didn't really make it in The UK. They had one major hit there with Brother Louie but when you look at the hits they had everywhere else.

Limahl has a very impressive voice for a man.
Also I wouldn't call myself a fan of the duo, but am absolutely in love with the voice the singer of Tears for Fears had back then.
