Help! Do you have advice for my fearful shutdown foster dog He doesn't want anything to do with me. He does have a history of aggression towards men. I haven't had men over to see it yet. I just want him to have a personality & feel joy. He lays around wanting nothing to do with me. He doesn't seem to enjoy being pet or being brushed. He follows me around. always out of reach. He's an Australian Kelpie.

The best way I've found to rehabilitate a terrified dog like this is to bring in another dog for it to trust and when it sees how the other dog trusts you it speeds things up a bit. It also teaches them normal routines and behaviors to emulate without the slow arduous processes needed to teach them without the trusted dog's help. I love helping abused and neglected dogs find happiness

Great story. Tobi must have been badly mistreated and traumatized by a previous owner who deserves to be in jail. But it's amazing how so many dogs manage to overcome such trauma and then seem to leave it all behind when they realize their life has changed for the better.

Dogs are such an intuitive, resilient and amazing animal.
Anyone who could ever intentionally hurt or try to break their spirits are the worst kind of monster.

Seems to me like should be a no brainier. How to deal with those dogs who are completely shut off & terrified to these extremes should be introduced to the fosters Dogg or dogs which always seem to break down the trust bar rierso quickly

Introduce it to Smith&Wesson. Not worth it risking people's lives over these things. Think about what would happen if you take it out for a walk and an episode happened and there was infants or children around.

Seeing this pup trying to hide and make himself so little is heartbreaking. We don’t deserve the unconditional love dogs give. And the people that abuse animals need to be dealt with.

Dragging dogs by their necks is not advised. I realize halters may be harder to get on but are much more effective and humane.
