Anyone who doubts this should search the web for the attack by a pet chimpanzee that suddenly went berserk and ripped the face off a woman who subsequently underwent a face transplant, as well as a lot of other medical care. It's a tragic and horrifying story. A turtle may seem too slow to be dangerous, but one lungeing snap of its jaws to her face could disfigure her permanently.

I was just thinking about how cool it would be to not experience the death of a pet, but then the more I think about it, I don't know which would be more sad. I've seen some videos of pets grieving the loss of their owner, and it ripped my heart apart. Just the thought of me passing away and my two cats not understanding, and thinking I abandonded them makes me wanna cry like a baby.

I remember one big turtle that lived on a family's estate in Peru as a child. He had crayon on his shell and was big enough for small children to ride. Today he is in a zoo in Peru and I'm told he's the size of a vw beetle.
