I just lost my 32 y. o. TB mare. Raised and trained her from a yearling. I got Sinny also as a yearling as a rescue. She is a pure bred Black Percheron and is 16 now and 17. 1 hands and 1650#. I had to put Velvet the TB down on Monday and we buried her the next day. Sinny is getting lots of extra attention and peppermint but now is the only horse in the pasture for the first time in her life. I am trying to find a gentle donkey or pony for company. Dont have the facilities for a goat or the money or physical abilities anymore for another young horse as I am 65 an have bad arthritis.
Sinny and I are going to grieve for a while. I went to the barn with her this morning to put out hay and saw that the dirt on Velvets grave cover was churned up. Sinny knows she is buried there and I think was trying to get to her. Velvet you had to go
We loved you so. You will never be forgotten and will all be together again.

I can see it now, an older gentleman joining a new location, with all new sights and sounds and scents and the younger gentleman goes up and tells him, Just hang out with me, you'll do fine! Like you said, he normally helps younger horses adapt and adjust; it's heartwarming to see him take the same gentle consideration for this elder horse.

You are blessed to have the land and the means to rescue such majestic animals that it seems the world has no time or patience for anymore (Bears, The Mustang, etc. etc) The Man above has enlisted you for a special job, keep doing it well for as long as you can. Bless all.

Everything in this video was absolutely nice. Except I wouldn't put their feed dishes right next to one another because the dominant horse will always eat both.

Should be a tax paid on all horse purchases that would provide vet care for injured, sick horses. even when horse is in rescue.
