Guy Tried To Release His Rescue Squirrel But She Always Came Back I grew up in a small town in the UP of Michigan. The county courthouse was across the street. It had massive trees in the courtyard. Each day the first floor employees would leave their windows cracked open. On each sill was a treat for a particular squirrel, Freddie The Freeloader. Freddie made his rounds across the street to my neighbors home and ours. Each day Freddie would arrive at our house around 3: 00pm. He got a Windmill Cookie my mother left for him. I can vividly remember coming into the house to get a drink or something to eat and saying in passing, Hi Freddie, while he sat and quietly ate his cookie. Leaving to go back outside to play, I would say, Bye Freddie. Everyone loved Freddie and Freddie loved everybody. The day Freddie died, he made the front page of the newspaper. Freddie is Dead! in 3 all caps.

We rescued a a squirrel in our yard and my mom raised him for around 6 months. The squirrel absolutely loved my mom, and would climb up to her and sleep on her; and she loved the setup we had for him up high and with nuts and fruits everywhere. One day she escaped through my window after my brother left my door open. She never came back and it broke my mom's heart. That was 8 years ago and to this day my mom still gets emotional when she thinks of our Squirrel.

U know, as I am in week 4, maybe 5 now, of my baby's rescue, (and its goin GREAT, I honestly Must admit, although I hope he will find happiness in my LARGE BACKYARD, .I do hope he returns for MANY MANY TREATS AND goodies. I know this is not logical, he is a grey. and w. 5 acres, and him being male. its doubtful. But he does fuss when I immediately put him right back in the large enclosure Ive made for his habitat-(in preperation for release)

My cat also came up the driveway carrying a baby squirrel. My Granddaughter grabbed him n asked if we could save him. From that day on, we had a newborn in the house to feed every few hours. Now he's a full grown squirrel we named Squidward and he's a joy to play with and have as a friend. From one squirrel lover to another, good for yo1qqu!

I like the large yard with the trees for the squirrel. Part of the reason she won't leave you and be on her own is that you give her food. Feeding wild animals makes them automatically trained to keep coming back seeing if you have food everyday. Instead of her leaving one day she will bring another squirrel (male) to move in with her

I have been raising a squirrel for about 2 months now, she was a month old when she came to me. Now she won’t leave, just like in the video I let her roam free during the day and take her to sleep in the cage.
I am her favorite human now, And I don’t even want to bebut I guess I don’t have a choice.

U can domesticate almost any animal if u show it love from birth rather than fear and pure survival. Even snakes and spiders get docile (as much as they are capable of anyway) if u get them at birth and treat them right right away. Some animals u can train the wild out of but that's difficult

Aww I miss those finger hugs. My boy decided to go free 6 months ago. He still comes home everyday but he is definitely a big wild guy and not into my cuddles anymore I think you have done a great job with her, seems girl squirrels are more likely to stay.
more videos of them!

God is real how could something so complex like the universe and humans be made from bacteria or rocks or evolution we just couldn’t God made it all and how could the things that people say made the universe get here if there was nothing God made it all

This is so wonderful. Best to all of you. Fall is here now, and today I took a walk through a nearby park, and everywhere I looked were lots and lots of squirrels trying to get fat for winter. I couldn't believe how many I saw. Love em'.

I've raised and released eight baby squirrels, at my house. All males. One came back to have bot flies removed, but then never came back.
It seems like, maybe, the females are more likely to stick around.

Getting a baby squirrel is the friendship of a lifetime! My buddy loved car rides to the grocery store. He'd stay in my coat pocket unless I took him out. Best animal friend ever!

She loves the attention you give her. She loves you and knows you take care of her. She loves the games you play with her, she may never leave, and that’s ok too. She is happy.

The squirrel knows exactly where she wants to be and who can blame her. No scrapping around for food, warmth, love and veterinary treatment should she need it. Lovely guy.

I think what the animal moment was you talked about when he held your finger in both his paws is not so much a feeling of being loved it is that feeling of being cherished

That's so adorable. I can't even own a cat now where I live, it's against the rules. (Well, I should re-phrase: A cat cannot own me where I live right now)

Don't give this guy a podium. His videos are thirst traps for his ass, with his squirrel thrown in. He's a narcissist, seeking validation.

I wish if i can love someone like this. This man can love someone yet completely okay to let her walk away from his life forever.
reply

I wouldn’t release her at that point. She could be preyed upon and suffer badly. She’s too unique.
reply

It’s too bad all humans couldn’t get along like this. NO MORE WARS. NO MORE UNNATURAL DEATHS.

I have a lot of respect for people that are kind to animals. It means you're a good person.

What a fantastic journey together. this made my day! Thank you for your humanity and pure love.

You can't release her after you've raised her. She has no Outside skills. Sorry but truth.

Why does the audio on these videos alwaya sound like they recorded it through a prison phone

Squirrels are amazing - so social and loving. As babies, they require tucking in at bedtime.
reply

I'm glad you're taking care of her what happened to her tail how come it's not bushy
reply

I think it's hilarious how she just flings herself at him! Like a squirrel torpedo!
reply

Nah I got trees and food. No need for her to leave the safe resourceful place. Lol

Almost any animal will stick around if you feed it. Democrats count on this for votes!
