Woman Saves Hundreds Of Birds From Illegal Poaching

This woman volunteers for CABS who save hundreds of birds from illegal poaching, whether they're stuck in a poacher's net or limesticks. They even save a giant owl! Greedy clueless humans think the birds, animals are numerous and will always be there. They didn't take into account there are a lot of human activities decimating the numbers along with the natural course of elimination. I've come across pet shops selling songbirds etc. All stuffed into small cages and miserable, out of their element because they were taken out of their natural habitats and native countries.
Give it another 100 years. If the world and humanity survive, it'll be akin to the world of Blade Runner, where there are no more birds and animals.

This is the real important work, not the jobs making millions in a corporate setting contributing to more destruction, directly and indirectly. I so want to dedicate my life to this kind of service. And I wish I could right now, right this moment. Unfortunately, I am trapped in an illness that won't let me. But I wholeheartedly support this cause and any other that takes care of our planet, our home, not to just us humans, but to all of the animate and inanimate beings and things. I love birds so much. I adopted an Umbrella cockatoo who had been dumped twice already. And I do the best I can to raise awareness about the parrot crisis. I wish I could do more, and hope to in the future. I am inspired by this video. It brought a spark in my life. Thank you CABS, a million thanks!

An excellent organisation filled with wonderful people. I don't know why Mediterranean countries have such bad reputations for animal cruelty. I mean they have the reputation because it happens, but it's long past time to say it's traditional. Bear baiting was traditional in my country but was made illegal nearly 200 years ago, alongside most other N European countries. Tradition is never an excuse for cruelty.

As a dairy man employee when my boss would spread seed he would occasionally put poison in the seed I understood why he did it but the second season I wouldn work for him had to find other employment with another dairy that didn't do that not all dairys do that
He also did other things with antibiotics on the cows that were not quite legal after 9 years is a dairymen I learned a little bit

I agree with some of the comments definitely ripped my heart out seeing those poor little creatures suffering. They should not be able to use those kinds of nets. And using the sound devices with bird calls on them now that's just plain animal cruelty and should be outlawed no matter what government or country living in.
Great work & I hope this opens some people's eyes to their plight.

These birds are NOT being caught to eat because the people are hungry!
What is the small bird delicacy in Cyprus
Songbirds are trapped and killed illegally, before being sold on the black market to restaurants in the Republic of Cyprus for the delicacy of 'ambelopoulia' a controversial delicacy of pickled or grilled songbirds

I have a lot of admiration and love for peoples who dedicate their lives to save those beautifull and usefull birds. May god help them to achieve this fight and find other solutions than those used to protect their labor, respectfully from each other. We are humans, we can do it!

Saw this related article in the National Post: Organized criminals slaughter 400, 000 songbirds so people can eat them whole in Cyprus
The pernicious trade is driven by a demand for ambelopoulia, an expensive local delicacy in which birds are pickled, cooked and served whole.

Wild birds are remarkable they come to this earth to share lessons with humans we must protect them at all costs. Why are people wanting to eat song birds it beyond comprehension. This woman and all the volunteers are amazing people who know what is important. Thank you!

Thank you for saving these precious lives. How can people be so cruel
I can't watch this whole video because it hurts too much to watch. The birds are so innocent and they are such an important part of the ecosystem. Leave these poor birds and other animals ALONE!

reply

Thank the good Lord for people like YOU! I have been in love with birds and wildlife ever since I knew what a bird was and I've become an avid birder. Humans can be the most wonderful and they can be the most horrible. Thank you for doing what you're doing.
reply

I had no idea this was going on. These poachers should be jailed!
To harm these innocent fragile creatures is criminal.
Thank you to the rescue teams who take a probable risk as well to save these precious babies prayers from Canada

Now Zoe is my kind of savior! She did what she could to save these innocent birds! She did the ultimate thing! What a BRAVE LADY! The Late Great Sir Alfred Hitchcock Has NOTHING On This Great Soul! She IS SAVING ALL THE BIRDS! JUST AMAZING!

My question is why. Why are people hunting tiny birds They're tiny. They have no meat on them! You'd have to probably catch five to give just one person a decent meal! What kind of profit are people making off these birds from the black market
reply

Why
Consume
Humans -at least 1/3
Since the 1970s there's been over 1 million or billion billion decline in Bird species and if the animals all go extinct which seems to be where we're heading we will cease to exist as well way to go

reply

Wow I've heard it all now what else can greedy humans do I think people would kill the last thing on earth for money THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for helping these helpless animals you're AWESOME!
reply

Will humans stop at nothing for their greed, oh my gosh. I just can't believe how selfish and cruel these people are. .. thank god for volunteers to save these sweet and beautiful creatures.
reply

Are songbirds still eaten in Cyprus
The practice of trapping songbirds for human consumption was outlawed in Cyprus in 1974 but it continues to be carried out on an industrial scale.

reply

Instead of slaughtering two cows to feed an entire village, they choose to kill hundreds of wild birds to have literally one bite of food for everyone. What the heck is wrong with those people
reply
