These two skinny pitties are rescued from a yard just in time watch our producer Erica reunite them one year later! Just like 3 weeks ago i was driving down the road a busy road, with a busy road crossing it. Driving along and i see a dof just running down the street all by herself, nobody looking for her. I stopped and opened up my door and she jumped right in like shed known me her whole life. She looked scared as could be. She been my shadow since then. Lil 55lb frnale pit. Couple mo ths ago i was walking home from the neighborhood gas station for some snacks. As i walk out the door and almost gget to the street i see 2 huge dogs. A st bernard and a great Pyrenees. Both were happy as hell to have seen me, like they wede abandoned. I always find stray amimals that i end u9 taking in.

So not the point at all, but I can't get over the name Princess P.
We had a sweet little cat who, unfortunately, suffered from myopathy. It was relatively mild, so when she was young, unless you knew what to look for, she just looked a little tired (slightly droopy head and hindquarters mostly. Other than monitoring her heart a few times a day and giving her some extra vitamins and nutrients, she lived a completely normal life.
But when she got older the myopathy became a little worse, and one of the things that was impacted was that she leaked. It was the oddest thing I had ever seen. And while there was the possibility of a surgical fix, with the myopathy impacting her heart, the risk of sedation for surgery was too great. So she lived her remaining 6 years wearing these tiny little diapers, secured on with tiny onesies designed for premies, because it was the only way we could get her not to remove the diaper when she was grooming.
Surprisingly she didnt mind the diaper or the onesie at all.
She had a bunch of onsies and she would often come over to search through them and choose which one she wanted. Her absolute favorite was this little pink onesie that had tiny ruffles. It had a little gold crown on it and the words Pretty Little Princess. One day she was doing something cute and my husband called over to her what are you doing little Princess PP, and she immediately looked up and went over to him.
The name was so perfect, and she clearly liked it, so at the ripe old age of 11, she acquired the name Princess P. She still responded to her actual name (Helen, but really, from then on, she became our little Princess P.
Thanks for the memory!

. This doesn't have anything to do with the story, and yet it does lol. My best friend's neighbor bought a frenchie/poodle mix for over a thousand dollars, and you would think that after spending that kind of money on a dog, the owner would take magnificent care of it. But not these people. My best friend called me and told me to come over so that I could see her neighbor's malnourished dog and help her get the dog out of there. She was skin and bones just like these 2 angels, and after I did some investigating I found out that the dog had pee'd on their carpet (like little puppies do) so they put her in a small cage with hardly any food for days. Their daughter, who was nothing like her parents, rescued the dog by sneaking her out and giving her to me bc I lived far enough away that they wouldn't see the dog. I named her Fruity Pebbles, FruFru for short, got her fattened back up, and made her apart of my family. Sometimes you gotta break the law to do something good, like saving a life

Thanks Erica!
This is a perfect reminder that it is okay to separate dogs. We hear a lot about dogs being bonded and can't be adopted separately.
But, Lee Asher told us about trauma bonding. And this is partly, at least, the case here. Sure, there are pets that are totally bonded and should be adopted together. But, not all pets need that. These dogs are so happy in their new homes!
At one point, we had three dogs and they were completely disinterested in each other.
Thanks again for following them and helping to set up this reunion. I hope they have more!
Blessings!

Thank you! I will never understand how people can torture their animals by starving them. Food is love to me and my dogs. I don’t understand it. If you can’t afford it, surrender them. They must be evil, that is the only way I can see if. Horses are the worst. I’d love to have a horse, but I know how much it costs. So I don’t have one. I turned down a free Rottweiler because I didn’t think I could afford to feed two big dogs. I have an 80 pound lab pit mix. She would have been over 100 pounds. She went to a fantastic woman as an only dog. Think before you adopt.

One of my lifelong friends rescued a pit bull from the pound when we were living together. He got her on discount the day he came in, she was only $17. She recently passed away, but I’ve always said that she was the best $17 anyone had ever spent. She was so sweet, never barked, and she used to groan to show her emotions. These dogs should never be treated so poorly because they’re some of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet

That female reminds me of the pit bull I had the pleasure of knowing for 9 years, from a pup to a full grown female pit bull. She had a wonderful disposition, loved everyone, and was gone too soon. I still miss her over 25 years later. Misty was a wonderful ambassador for all pit bulls. She left this world too soon, and the way she came into it, with tail and ears intact. The way they all should be IMO.

I had sad tears and seeing the condition of those sweet and beautiful dogs. Why It's just breaks my heart to see that.
And then the happy tears came when I saw them healthy and fun and running and playing and being loved on that was all I needed to see knowing that these dogs are going to be loved for the rest of their lives. Thank you for the kindness love and compassion

I love the stories on The Dodo. Get so disappointed in people for letting these beautiful kiddos down. Some stories are hard to take. But the joy when they have been rescued and saved from uncertain conditions is just as impactful with the success. These kiddos don’t ever deserve these things happening. Thank you for your work.

I just don’t get how Americans always have to say pitbull or even more ridiculous terminology pitties when it comes to a bully breed! When it’s a spaniel or a shitzu or any other breed it’s just labelled dog. Are bully breeds not dogs that they keep having to mislabel them! So infuriating!

It is so hard to watch when the dogs are in such horrible condition it is so satisfying to watch their condition improve as well as their spirit! Getting my daily dose of The Dodo is a daily spirit lift! Much love and many blessings The Dodo!

It breaks my heart to see a dog that has been abused, neglected and because of that. lacking self confidence.
Be kind to yourself, your pets and each other.
Pass it on . become a hero to someone, something or even yourself.

What a great story, one question though was the third dog in the first video taken as well or was he/she part of the rescue team also was the rescue in the USA And was the previous owner prosecuted in any way for animal cruelty

I don’t have a dog, however I do have a three legged cat named tippy.
I am just so happy that those dogs are in a safe place now. It makes me so mad when I see stories about animals being mistreated like that.

reply

Okay, great. You're a big shot producer. Maybe you should have let the dogs have center stage for this video instead of taking away from their plight. You're a horrible producer. More about you than the poor pathetic dogs.
reply

If you’re going to rescue a dog, remember dogs are very receptive to human emotion. Don’t go in there blubbering like a child, save that for later. Be happy and confident and the dog will mirror your attitude.

Pls, Dodo staff. Producers and editors. shoehorning yourselves into videos does not add to them.
It's like, here's a video about cute puppies but while you're here. NOTICE ME!

reply

Am I the only one who can't stand these dodo staff interruptions I just want to watch cute videos of animals not see and hear what the producers/editors think

With all the terrible events happening around the world now, your dedication and stories are what we all need to help make sense of this challenging life we all live.
