If you are thinking of donating money for animal welfare projects, PLEASE consider donating the money to people like Paul or other rescues that operate 100% on volunteers. That way your money will go entirely to the animals that you’re actually donating for.
Huge non profits have a lot of paid employees (CEOs get paid millions there, you can look it up it’s all public) and administrative costs so part of your donation will go there. Plus, they receive a lot of grants due to their popularity. Individuals/ heroes and small rescues like Paul don’t have the same opportunities to raise funds.
Don’t get me wrong, donating to big non profits is also great, but I wanted to raise awareness about this as I work for a small rescue as a volunteer and know first hand how hard it is for them to stay afloat

Unhoused. I am sorry I know it's not pertinent but what a pathetic and worrying euphemism. I believe they are called HOMELESS. They are WITHOUT a HOME. Unhoused. give me a break. It's insulting. Is calling them the unhoused supposed to make the rest of us feel any better about ourselves What is happening to us The language we use is indicative of what's happening in our minds. Stop letting other people dictate and downplay how we feel about things. We seem to care much more about the doggos than we do these unhoused people. God help us. I imagine this may get deleted or be ignored, but whatever I feel I had to say something. You can do better The Dodo!

Absolutely loved this story. To see an American doing kindness in its most divine way possible, gives me hope for Americans. When so much news focuses on gender, religion, politics, its so heartwarming to see a man do his thing, helping dogs and owners needing support with looking after their beloved. What does it matter what this man's gender is, or his religion, he is doing love, living love, being a kind person, thinking of others and the welfare of our best animal friend, a dog.

This is one of my favourite Dodo clips ever! For those of us lucky enough to have dogs as companions, I always think about homeless/unhoused people and how they keep their dogs fed and safe because their companionship is invaluable. I donate to an amazing organization that helps this same vulnerable population with vet bills, etc. Do a search and find a reputable organization (vetted) if that interest you, too. Amazing heroes!

Wow. He is incredible. And he is right - I worked with a lot of people while they were homeless during my career as a social worker. And their pets meant the absolute world to them. I saw many people turn down possible housing because their pet wasn’t welcome. That would be tantamount to having housing for a mother, but her child couldn’t come. Of course they wouldn’t see it as an actual option.

Poorer people are more kind and generous than richer people. Sad. when it comes to rescuing animals, everyone (rich and poor) should all be helping animals in whichever way is needed, esp with the basics of food, water, safe shelter and health. Many thanks and blessings to all animal rescuers and protectors.

Thank you again to The Dodo for helping us meet this kind man. Stories like this are needed in this day and age with all the horrible things happening in our world. He is a true hero for man and dogs. I love how selfless he is. I hope he inspires more people to help people and animals in our world.

What an amazing and heartwarming story. This man truly loves dogs and all animals. I love his cart. It was probably like winning the lottery for him when he got the new electric car. And this dog is having fun too

You can tell he's an old soul because he said All 4 of my dogs came off the streets instead of saying he rescued his dogs all the time. He doesn't consider them an ego boost. They're just part of the family.
