I truly never realized how much dogs are like 5-7 year Olds until I worked at a doggie daycare. You see there was a time when I was picking my 4 year old up from daycare and the worker left me with the kids while she went to do something. Omg. It's like they just KNEW they could go wild bc she was gone. She came back and had them all under control in 2 seconds. Anyhoo. I was at the doggie daycare and a customer needed to talk to the manager. She asked me to watch her group of dogs. I mean. I knew them all bc I walked them back. The SECOND she left, the same thing happened. Oolong the Doodle was battling it out over getting to poop to eat and I had to figure out how to get to the scoop AND keep him away. It was ridiculous. And the minute she returned, same thing. I wish you could see the 2 events the way I did. It completely changed how I understand dogs. They DO have friends. They DO remember each other. They get jealous, argue, throw tantrums, disobey, BULLY (gotta love the bullies, lol) and form play groups. Deep down, I guess I realized it, but when you see it in a little ecosystem like that it really amazes you. Sorry for the long post. I just love dogs so much!

im 54 and ive knows since i could think, 5 or 6 years old, that in this world there is absolutely NOTHING better nor greater than animals, and especially our beloved pets dogs, cats, so intelligent so loving so patient
i believe they are angels on this Earth and how you treat them its how you will be judged

My girl went through the same thing after her bestie’s pet mom stopped letting them play together. I watched her become almost depressed. We adopted this sweet 9 yr old boy (she’s 9 also) because I didn’t think a rambunctious puppy was what anyone in the house needed (I also have 2 older cats. That little guy acts like a toddler and brought joy back into her life. They can be a handful but they’re more than worth it!

I remember when we adopted our second beagle and she became a member of our family. Our male beagle just loved her and they played together and slept together. And when the female wasn’t there our male dog would cry and cry u til she came home.

Little wiener dog I had was strictly a one dog, one dad critter. She couldn't stand another dog near me, and that's why my kids ( all adults) didn't like her very much, cuz she would yap and snap at all their dogs, at THEIR houses.

My original dog does not like the second dog. We've had the second dog for 3 years and they never are together. Never play. And the second dog wants to play so bad. I'm almost tempted to get a third!

A rancher that I worked for would always get another dog when the one he had was ten years old. He said it was much easier to train the new dog and it would also have a few years left.

We bought a dog for our dog, too, lol. Best decision ever! They adore each other, and are the best company when we are not home. A dog should not be alone all day!
