The duck grew up thinking she was a chicken We talked to Dina, who told us how the mama chicken treated Chuckin, just like one of her baby chicks, and how now he's at least 4 times her size but still thinks of her as mom! Keep up with them on Instagram: Love Animals

Chickens will lay on eggs regardless on species. I for example had 3 broody hens laying on guineafowl eggs, one had 10 all successful, second one had 25 but 13 succed, but first brood were sold but sadly second ones were Slaughtered alongside their adoptive mama, bunnies and more chicks due to stray dogs, then third hen didnt accepted 3 of chicks that only succed and are now in a brooder and there are two more laying on more guineafowl eggs. This year was the biggest percentage of broody hens, as much as 5 or 7, egg percentage dropped from all 29 to 3

The part you left out animals hide or live in hidden agendas or have maliciousness about them when they see a completely different animal cats don’t kill rats unless the mother teaches it to them and whatever animals learn it’s for survival not ever maliciousness or malicious intent! And am the living and breathing embodiment people hating me and other black folks because of skin and not because of I’ve given a reason to me or us! And to say it’s weird as hell is the greatest understatement since 1619!

This is not unusual at all. Duck and chicken eggs are similar in size and a chicken that has gone broody will sit on them without issue. My grandparents had a large incubator and occasionally they’d have so few eggs it wasn’t worth using, so they would give the eggs to a chicken who was broody.

I love chickensthey are so funny! And their interaction with other chickens, and even other animals reminds me of people! What’s that saying, walks like a duck, talks like a duck, acts like a duck. Not sure I have that right. But moral to the storywe do what we have learned from others.

I know a story about a hen who took care of orphaned kittens. (Of course, the hen's owners took care of feeding the kittens)
Imagine the mother hen's distress when her children grew and began climbing trees.
As they say in my country: Little kid, little problem, big kid, big problem.

Cuteness overload is an understatement! Animals love unconditionally. What an adorable story. Thank you for sharing. It is so true, we can learn tons of things from animals, from their empathy and lack of prejudice.

Your duck is a Muscovy duck and I think they are the best ducks among all ducks. Right now we have an orphaned Muscovy duckling growing up with 4 little chickens, we bought him for company. They are best friends.

Stuns me that animals will raise and love babies from entirely different species, yet humans can't be trusted to raise their own children without making a total mess of it. Humans are an affront to nature.

Chickens are exemplary mothers. I had a hen very similar to this one. They give their lives to protect their eggs, like all mothers in the animal kingdom.

So, does the duck ever learn it can swim, or fly hundreds of miles Does it eat chicken feed or a healthy assortment of fruits, veggies, mealworms, etc

We tricked a hen into hatching a goose egg. The gosling got too big to sleep beneath her, so he just tucked his head under her at night.

Eggs came before a chicken something similar happened a long time ago the real question is how the lonely chicken made more chickens
