It seems like Marvel ups the game every time for CGI effects - and with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - they may have just toppled all the competition. It s normal for most productions to shoot as practical as possible for time sake and believability - but this MCU film went above and beyond to nail down the madness in this adventure of Doctor Strange.
Traveling through multiple universes - means a whole lot of the MCU special effects needed to be as realistic as possible. The team used the real actors in harnesses and surrounded them in bright green backgrounds - to effectively immerse them into the digital worlds. That s a whole lot of imagination from Benedict Cumberbatch - since he fights everything from one-eyed monsters to demons.
The great thing about Marvel - is that they give us great looks at how they pull off these effects behind the scenes. How do they even coordinate the effects and actor actions so seamlessly? Topping that with a film as massive in production quality as this one - means for a pretty tough time in making the sequences as believable as possible.
Marvel CGI has gotten so clean in just the past decade - that we would have never been able to tell at times whether or not CGI was used in a scene. Paired with the right director and of course - Oscar nominated actors - a movie with this much CGI can succeed in fooling a few audience members. We re not saying we thought they actually obtained a one-eyed monster or anything - but the amount of times they didn t use practical sets and effects - really shocked us. Date: 2022-08-14
