Problem was, Wolverine had, due to his origins, been suffering from Amnesia and couldn't remember most of his life. So his deepest desire was to remember everything in his life, which he did. Which meant that he remembered the world as it was before Wanda warped it.

The Infinity Gauntlet was a well written story for the Avengers. It really shown Thanos' might and what he really wanted.
Of course then there was the Avengers: Disassembled written by Bendis and I got to say that storyline was just fantastic. Seeing how The Earth's Mightiest Heroes just crumble was just jaw dropping.
