we’re counting down our picks for the TV characters whose happy endings and redemption arcs were undeserved. Spoilers will be mentioned! Our countdown includes characters from shows One Tree Hill, Mad Men, Glee and more! What TV character do you think has the most undeserved happy ending Well, he's undoubtedly one of the most vital characters. He's also one of the most contentious. He proved on several occasions that he wasn't a very good partner for making a list of pros and cons about Rachel's career and personality to saying her name to a different woman at the wedding altar. It was clear. He only cared about himself. I. Ross. Hi. Ross, take the Emily. Take the Rachel. Despite all of that, he was still given a fairy tale and ending where Rachel left all of her dreams behind to be with him. Well, it ended up being the best choice for Rachel in the long run, we can't help but wish she had just gotten on that plane. Oh, my God. Did she get off the plane? Did she get off the plane? Number nine, angela Martin, the office. These are all terrible ideas. And none of them are on the theme of a nutcracker. Christmas. I think you should leave Angela is the personification of your job's worst nightmare. She was judgmental towards everyone and wasn't shy about sharing those judgments out loud. She constantly insults, aled her co-workers and seemed to take joy in tearing them down. Uh, uh, no one has seconds until everyone's had some. You've got to be kidding. You've got to be kidding. Even as the show progressed, she continued to act selfishly. Shiva went so far as to lie to both Dwight and the Senator about who the father of her child was. However, none of that seemed to matter by the end of the series. When she marries Dwight, well, their wedding was a genuinely sweet moment. Some viewers couldn't help but feel that her happy ending wasn't entirely deserved. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for coming now. Please take your hay bales to the reception. They'll be used for seating.complimentary. Hay hooks are placed along the aisle. Number eight, rachel Barry, glee. You are short. You are awful. And that is never going to change. I think you should move out. She's proof that being talented doesn't cancel out a mean personality. Despite being picked on by everyone else in school. Rachel used her tiny bit of power in the Glee Club, to tear down her fellow teammates. Her competitive nature caused her to act out in vicious ways from insulting her friends to throwing fits. If she didn't get a solo. Oh, hello. I couldn't help but notice you, admiring me yesterday in the courtyard. What? Oh, you don't speak English. You like me. Sing, you, like me, sing very much. She even went so far as to send a potential new member to a dangerous location, just to ensure she would still be the best singer in the club. She was continuously rewarded, despite her bad behavior, and her setbacks were shortlived. It all called, culminated in her getting everything. She ever wanted a loving relationship and a Tony, which annoyed fans, to no end. And the Tony goes to Razel Berry and Jade Austin SS number seven, damon Salvatore, the Vampire Diaries. The truth is, I've never left you. When it comes to romantic programs, it's an unfortunate reality, that some less than ideal behaviors will be normalized and made to seem sweet. However, some things can't be romanticized, and Damon was the, imate proof of that. His devotion to Elena caused him to do some deplorable things, from forcing her to drink his blood, to snapping her brother's neck when she rejected him, it's the easiest thing in the world, the part of you, that cares. It just goes away. All you have to do is flip the switch. Instead, it was proven time and time again, how toxic he was. And yet by the end, elena chose him as the one to be with her for the rest of eternity. Well, we know, shows like this aren't the healthiest representation of love. Presenting. Their relationship is anything other than healthy, was a bold choice. Tell Elena that I did this, for her to pay for my past mistakes. Number six, ted Mosby, how I met your mother. You know what that word means? You know that calling people names is mean and hurtful ass, face, lily. If you don't bring that stuff back right now, well, he may not have been downright evil. He proved on several occasions, why his quest to meet the right woman took so long. He was willing to drop his partners quickly. If he felt, they weren't going to be permanent and broke up with some at the most inopportune moments. I'm not the one for you. I'm sorry. I just, I, I thought the mature thing to do. It's my birthday. Yes. I know I didn't realize it's my birthday. And you're telling me I'm not the one for you when it seemed. Ted had finally met the titular mother. Fans were excited. However, their hopes were dashed when it was revealed that she had passed and that the story had been leading to him, committing to Robin, a longtime friend, seeing Ted, get to, have his cake and eat, it too, felt completely undeserved. Well, things worked out for him. It was at the expense of the show's ending. He made a sit down and listen to the story about how you met Mom. Yet Mom is hardly in the story. No, this is a story about how you're totally in love with Aunt Robin. Number five, negan, the walking dead. Hi, you're Rick, right? I'm negan. Redemption arcs can be fun to watch, but some simply don't deserve them. Like, negan. He's responsible for several brutal deaths in the series, including long-term fan favorites. We miss you, glenn. He went out of his way to be as antagonistic as possible, purely for the sake of showing Rick, who was in charge, you can breathe, you can blink, you can cry, hell. You're all going to be doing that. His violence was seemingly endless. Making for a compelling yet horrific villain. Despite all of that, he changed his tune and began to help the people. He had once traumatized, so horribly. Well. It was an interesting direction for his character to go in. Seeing such a brutal person becomes. So soft was jarring to say the least. Thank you for saving her. Always did have a flare for the dramatic number-four, don Draper, madman. You are the sweetest man. You make me sick. Anti-hero narratives, though they can be compelling, can also lead to an unrealistic and undeserved-ending. Draver was blinded by his visions-of success and was willing to do anything or hurt anyone to get to the top. His constant mistreatment of his family, and peers is more than enough to prove that. He cared more about his success than the happiness of the people in his life. I know you think you saw something. I was comforting, mrs. Rosen. She was very upset. Despite his toxic behavior. He rarely saw consequences for it. Even the finale implies that Don still hasn't changed his ways While we see him meditating the immediate cut to a cat commercial implies that he never left the business. And in fact, may have used his treatment as a way to finally reached the top. Manan will take you back in a second. Apparently, it's happening. Four, don't you want to work on Coke? I can't number three, dan Scott, one tree Hill. Most of your life. I failed you as a father, dad. I had the best of intentions for you, but I haven't always set the best example. Some characters. Redemptions come across naturally. Others seem to come about manipulatively if handled wrong. Dan Scott was never going to win, family member of the year. He was needless violent towards his children. And even at a hand in the death of his brother, despite his evil deeds, he never once had to atone for them. Or how about the time that you murdered me? Do you remember that? I said? Shut up, although his arc concludes with his death. Everything still manages to be wrapped up in a neat bow for him. Nearly all of his children forgave him. And it's even implied that his brother forgave and invited Dan to join him in the afterlife. It was a bizarre ending for such a horrid character. And to this day, fans wonder why they went so far to redeem him.come on, little brother. Take a walk with me. Number two, chuck Bass, gossip girl. I never thought that the worst thing you would ever do would be, to me, you went up there on your own. From the very beginning of the series, it was clear that Chuck shouldn't be trusted. He treated the women in his life horribly, whether he was romantically involved with them or not. He also was violent on more than one occasion, and only seemed to care about taking over his family's company. No, that was then. I'm trying to change. I liked your better perform. The finale seemed to be setting up an ending where he would face consequences for his actions. Only for that to be brushed aside. When he and Blair revealed, they had successfully evaded a charge, while the show seemed to think it was clever. Many fans disagreed. They would have preferred seen Chuck be held accountable rather than given everything he ever wanted while Cyrus is finishing off at the police station, but we refuse to talk. And since there's no actual evidence that Chuck was even on that roof. No witness except his wife. Yeah, no choice. But. If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications. Number one, carrie Bradshaw, sex in the city. What is your problem? I don't have a problem. You have a problem. She's the personification of Gaslight. Gatekeep, girl, boss. Though car, made it seem like she was a supportive friend and partner. Her actions spoke differently. Her constant devotion to Mr. Big caused her to mistreat her friends and herself. He is bad for you. Jesus. Every time you get near him, you turn into this pathetic, needy, insecure victim. And the thing that pisses me off the most is that you're more than willing to go right back from work. Her self-sabotage went so far that she even sheated on her seemingly perfect boyfriend to be with him. Considering how being with big made her worse. The series ending with the two of them together, didn't feel like a win at all. In fact, it just made it appear as though she hadn't developed at all in six seasons, even if she had ended up single, but happy. It would have been a much more satisfying conclusion than the one she actually got. It took me a really long time to get here, but I'm here. What TV character, do you think has the most undeserved happy ending? Let us know in the comments below.

It did not annoy me one bit, Rachel Berry got a great life and a Tony. She matured and worked her way back. People need to stop acting like Rachel the worse glee character. Sue bullied, black mail and attempted murder and got VP of the US. Santana bullied people every day, black mailed, got people sick and end up with the love of her life. Quinn committed parental fraud, cheated and tried to frame Shelby but went to Yale. Will was creepy and ended up being the principal. They all did bad things, regressed and learned and end up winning. Your resentment is delicious, though.

I agree with 8/10 here. Firstly, Negan didn't get a happy ending, and there's no chance he ever will. No character in TWD will. It's the apocalypse. And then Chuck. Saying he didn't deserve a happy ending is, I feel, is the opinion of someone who only payed attention to the first season. He had more growth than anybody else on that show by miles and miles. He starts off as the absolute worst, yes, but he also had the hardest life. He learned to stop pitying himself and taking his issues out on other people, and instead grew into the best character in the show.

Ted Mosbey had a great arch and the ending was only jarring because we couldn't understand it. Robin and Barney were doomed from jump but we are too conditioned to understand that at first glance. Ted found happiness only when he stopped trying to chase some fairytale ms perfect and focused on what was best for his life and the final episode shows how Ted's devotion to what's best for him as opposed to some code brought him happiness. Yeah maybe Ted and Robin won't stay together forever, but they're happy now

Rachel ruined 2 of Ross's relationships when he was happy (Julie and Bonnie) and a third time, flew to England to tell him she loved him right before his wedding. Later, she also forbad him from even dating anyone while she was pregnant even though she didn't want to be with him. She doesn't want Ross, but doesn't want him to be happy with someone else either. How is she the victim
reply

Rachel Berry should have been kicked out of the glee club and blacklisted from the entertainment industry. She is one of the examples of a character who is willing to do whatever it takes to reach the top, including sabotaging the competition and ruining careers just for her own benefit. Hopefully that Tony is all she got before something caused her career to crash and burn.

Tbh with Damon, he was always angry that his whole life ended because of Stefan. So a lot of his bad deeds leading up to his first scene were some sort of sad coping and revenge answer for being turned against his will. After that, I think he just came to embrace it, and Elena as a vampire suits him better than when she was human (she suited Stefan more in that regard.

I roll my eyes every time people like you pretend that Rachel is a victim. How easily you forget that she ruined THREE of Ross's relationships. She came between Ross and Julie. She came between Ross and Bonnie. And then, as if that weren't enough, she came between Ross and Emily. A victim I don't think so! Enough of this poor widdle Rachel, crap!

I can't pick just one of the many times Walking Dead jumped the shark tank but Negan continuing for more than 2 seasons just reeked of lazy writing. The spinoffs, the new series coming up and supposedly a movie based on Rick's character are the definition of beating a dead horse. What next, a CGI remake of the Beverly Hillbillies

I know negan was a bad guy and yeah what he did Abraham and Glenn was heartbreaking and totally shocking, but he apologized for all that. He turned his whole entire life around and decided to join Rick and the gang and team up with Maggie. but you know he did take out alpha. so I really don't think negan should be a part of this list

The book series that Vampire Diaries is based on, ended with Elena choosing Stefan, NOT Damon. The book series was different, and better, in most of everything. Unfortunately, L. J. Smith sold herself out for money. Thankfully Secret Circle was cut off at the knees before it turned into a toxic mess from the book series too.

Ted is no saint, but he hardly deserves a place on the list. He's a flawed individual, but he's not the incarnation of evil these lists put him out to be.
At the very least, he doesn't deserve the spot ahead of the vampire who killed the brother of the woman he obsessed over. Or Ross, either, Ross is worse than Ted.

reply

Ted needed to stay with the Zoe. She might have been the best choice of all. The problem with the show was it was written from. The start he was going to end up with Robin. The writers just didn’t have any balls to change course and went with it no matter how well he worked with other characters.
reply

I feel like there is a difference between Don Draper and a lot of the other people bc Mad Men was a complex show. You can’t really compare it to the shows that are super one dimensional. You see that he has a lot of trauma. Most of these other shows are very much geared towards teens.
reply

Though I stopped watching Walking Dead at Season 7, Negan was never a black and white villian. Rick killed many of Negan's people first. Negan killed only two of Rick's people to assert his power in an apocalyptic world. The series is about survival of all types.
reply

I'm gonna be honest, Ross may be not perfect or my favorite character, but this thought of poor Rachel and Ross is the bad guy seems to forced to me, watching Friends i know his behavior wasn't great sometimes, but Rachel's behavior and actions never are on the table
reply

Cora from OuaT. Her actions throughout her adult life made her moment of going to heavens pretty outrageous. Yeah, she did a great thing to her daughters in that episode, but some viewers didn’t believe she got enough redemption to earn heavens.
reply

No. No, it was RACHEL who didn't deserve her happy ending in _Friends_, not the other way around.
However. the rest of this list. especially putting Candace Buschell. I mean. _Carrie Bradshaw_ at number one is all right on the money.

reply

I always wondered why Rachel was talked up as THE best singer of the Glee Club, when others, including Santana, Mercedes and Kurt, were just as talented. In fact, it makes no sense why Rachel would be accepted into her dream school over Kurt.
reply

Had a hand in his brother's death Uh dude, he pointed a gun at him point blank and shot him dead instantly. He didn't have a hand. He is the cause. He even tried to frame the school shooter in that episode (who only killed himself)
reply

Now do the opposite list of the TV Characters who deserved their Bad Endings.
For example: The Roys siblings from Succession as none of the sibling become CEO of Waystar and just like their dad said, They are not serious people.
