Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Its ironic as Doc is described as Iron Man's equal and opposite.
There will be critics and Doubting Thomases galore, but remember, RDJ was once chosen to play Charlie Chapel, as well as Adm. Strauss in Oppenheimer (which earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar.
Anne Rice having doubts regarding Tom Cruise as Lestat was similar to Ian Fleming's own misgivings over Sean Connery portraying James Bond 007. He had David Niven in mind. But after personally meeting him in Jamaica during the shooting of Dr. No, he changed his mind, even giving 007 a Scottish-Swiss heritage for the novel You Only Live Twice.
Nice touch mentioning Marlon Brando as Jor-El in 1978's Superman. He nailed the role of Kal-El's dad.

#10 I never doubted Pratt when he was cast. And I was right
#9 A film & performance I didn't know I wanted
#7 The only way this casting would work is if an unknown played this part so that we wouldn't connect him to anything else
#5 I was ready to roast this performance due to her being a terrible actress in every film she did up to that point. But I ended up wanting her to win the Oscar that she deserved
#4 maybe the greatest gamble in entertainment history
#3 Keaton had the announcement reaction easy compared to Affleck & Pattinson
#2 The best James Bond
#1 Well duh! when you have people saying The heartthrob from 10 Things I hate about You or the gay cowboy from Brokeback Mountain you know you're gonna make a statement

If you guys ever do a list for TV shows, the cast of the live action One Piece has to make it. So many people were skeptical of the castings of the Straw Hat Pirates due to them being relative unknowns & they ended up perfect in their roles.
This would even extend to David Dastmalchian being cast as Mr. 3 for Season 2, surprising a lot of people in them casting an actor who has been in some high-profile films.

One that has caught me off guard is Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron in the upcoming animated movie transformers one. When I heard he was going to voice the character. I had a lot of doubts, even though I liked him from his work in the Monsterverse movies.
After the most recent trailers for Transformers one I think he’s going to kill it as Megatron.

The last two times I was stunned by a casting decision like RDJ as Doctor Doom were Michael Keaton as Batman and Heath Ledger as Joker. How the former will fulfill his role remains to see, but Keaton and Ledger are among why the 1989 _Batman_ and _The Dark Knight_ (2008) are part of DC’s best.

Dont see why people have a problem with RDJ playing DR. Doom. He will always wear a mask and most likely a voice chancer or something. We just need someone who Can fo the movements and deliver the lines which he is very good at

As a die hard fan of Batman, I was doubtful of the casting of Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson as the dark knight. However, they both did remarkably well for their takes on the iconic character.

Whenever any casting related to batman and stuff everyone reacts badly ever since michael Keaton and jack Nicholson were always proven wrong like most recently with robert Pattinson

One casting choice that I surprisingly liked was Johnny Knoxville voicing Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014. I didn’t think it would work, but he pulled it off.

With you milking the Deadpool and Wolverine movie, kinda surprised Hugh as Wolverine is not listed.
There was quite the outcry when he was first announced for X-men movie.

Myself as Miklo Velka In Blood In Blood Out (1993) I'm joking BTW I loved that movie a 4 out of 5 real good best film since Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo (1984)
reply

I think that WatchMojo have some obsession with Heath Ledger. I'm pretty sure that made this list just to mention him and put him on #1, as always.
reply

Don't know if TV casting is included, but how about one fans got 50 years after it all began.
Jodie Whitaker as a FEMALE Doctor Who

Even Anne Rice, the original author, had to concede that Tom Cruise was a perfect Lestat, after initially detesting his casting.
