Vance has cleaved to an extreme (right wing) version of Catholicism that is not mainstream Catholicism.
I love 'em and they are fun to argue with provided you can match them doctrinal teaching by doctrinal teaching but they make my head hurt
I have 3 hard copies of Augustine's City of God. I've got to go read it again to figure out how the F### he got to THAT version of Catholicism. sigh.
(I am Much more into things like Pacem in Terris, Populurum Progressio, and Laudato Si (human dignity and equality & rights and obligations, progressive human development, and environmental stewardship)

JD is a young Republican with an historic opportunity to help mold the oarty into something voters who are not feeling the old ways anymore and bridge some gaps to help bring a more functional conservative base going forward. I think time with Trump will hwlp him see these things whether he lets himself grow or not. that's on him

Didn't Donald Trump also say at one of his rallies that the reason he chose J. D Vance is that he's Willing to do anything, even Kiss His Ass. You forgot that he changed his name 3 times, had a stint as a cross dresser, and was found to have lied about a lot of the things he wrote in his book.

My husband and l lived in Middletown, OH while he worked at GE Aircraft as an engineer. Vance was not liked, respected, or trusted, and generally ridiculed, even in the late 80s. Guess things never change.

I think people would respect WM more if they were honest about their political bias. You can be liberal, that's fine, but don't pretend to be neutral when you're clearly favorable to one side.
