Pro hairdresser tries kristen ess target box dye (i'm shocked) Jen: In my youth my nickname was copper top because I had copper hair. As Ive aged, my hair has lost its copper and gone brown. Id still call it red, but easily mistaken for brown if you arent looking right. I always want to embrace my ginger and wanted my copper back, usually just picking an Auburn I like, but then I saw this brand with Copper Penny. I got so excited because a lot of hair dyes arent shown with red hair, so to read it would bring out my red tones, I snatched the box up and brought it home where it promptly went on my head and I am in love! Its not a huge change, but definitely brought back my copper top and will absolutely buy it again the next time I feel like I need a new pop of color in my hair.

tbh I think this speaks more to a lack of research than anything. The colors are meant to be used to add tone and shine to already similar colors, so the before/after pictures on the back of the box being practically the same as each other is the point. If you have nearly black hair and use the dark neutral brown it would look like the picture on the box - almost black hair with slight brown tones. Using them all on light hair completely misrepresents the product by using it incorrectly. Brad does poorly researched test videos a lot though so this is to be expected at this point (ex: his henna video is horribly executed, despite the internet having TONS of accurate henna resources)

I really do get all the naysayers worrying about this being an undisclosed paid ad but this stuff actually worked for me! I bought it after getting my hair bayalaged at the salon. I asked for some subtle lightening and walked out with chunky Kelly Clarkson highlights circa 2006. The shade my hair was lifted to looked terrible with my skin tone and I was extremely washed out. But I gave this a try and it really did tone things down/make me feel like I actually looked like myself again. Recommend this if you're trying to go a shade or two darker from color-treated hair without shelling out all your funds at the salon trying to fix it!

First, I'm still not convinced is the power of toner. I never used toner when I was blonde and it was fine.
Second, I see in the comments people questioning if this is an undisclosed ad or not. Does it really matter? What I take away from these videos is not what brad tells me to buy, but rather someone using a product on a wig, so that I don't damage my hair if I ever decide to try the product. If it turns out like shit, well at least wasn't on me. Take them as they are - an experiment that you didn't have to suffer through.

Could someone please recommend to me a cool-toned purple box dye that DOESN'T turn out to be just another red-toned plum, or starts off almost jet black before fading to an unflattering shade of orangey-red on someone with level 3 dark brown hair and (evidently persistent) red undertones, who's been doing her best to grow it out for the last 5 months already despite it looking so bad that she's tempted to hack the whole lot off on the daily but really doesn't suit short hair.

I absolutely love Kristen Ess products. I tried this gloss and I used it wrong. lmao. I didnt add it onto wet hair, however it still looked amazing! My only complaint was the scent. Super strong. But hair is super glossy after! I have black dyed hair and I love using this mostly for the ends of my hair that fade fast as Im a ginger. You need to have the same color as the gloss. I never use on regrowth.

BRAD MY LOVE, I NEED UR HELP! I have natural dark brown hair. Also it is natural (virgin curly hair) no color, no bleach, etc, but I have a bunch of gray hairs and I don't know what to do to get rid of the random gray hairs in my head. What is the best way to cover the gray and give me a color/shine/and style that would look best? Thanks love.

I just used KE Crystal Quartz Gloss this morning and I am SOOO impressed with how my hair came out. I already had color in my hair so I used the clear gloss but I was skeptical. Not anymore. It's shiny, manageable, and more importantly, it's healthier. I wish I had found this product months ago!

I have virgin brown hair with white/grey hairs that have joined the party. I'm hesitant to use a permanent color in case I don't like it and I miss my white greys. Would this be a good option for me to test covering my greys? I'm not sure if a toner/gloss can cover them? Thank you! :)

Kristen Ess is surprisingly nice, their purple shampoo is by far the best one Ive ever used and the weightless leave in conditioner is great for fine hair (I have fine yet damaged hair so I use it on my roots but a more conditioning one on my ends) and all her products smell so so so good

I tried the winter wheat which is supposed to tone down brass and it turned my blond hair dark. Don't remember it being shiny either, I didn't like it because my hair did not feel good. However, learning here that you shampoo before toning otherwise you wash the toner out, whodathunkit?

Brad I think I like the blue toned hair best on you, it brings out the color of your eyes. My husband tells me I am colour obsessed. probably Because he can't see colour! Lol all tints are white in his world. Anyway you bring me joy with all your colours, but love the blues on you.

Don't agree guys, doesn't seem like an add. He's giving his critique! Love how he doesn't agree to shampoo and condition after as suggested in the box. A definite no no! Such a healthier option than a permanent option! And 14 bucks is way cheaper than a salon toning session!

I live for demi & semi permanents, and was wondering about this line - especially because the pictures on the box are so confusing. Cool results, and can't wonder if they would have been different on dry hair - like a regular demi permanent. Weird. but gorgeoous: 0 )

I had to stop using her products some had squalene in them which is shark liver oil. There's a vegan version but I never got a response whether it was vegan or not. We need our sharks in our water not in our products. Remember cruelty free does not mean vegan.
