I waited a few days to wash my hair because it was also colored (highlighter pink. my choice. was for charity. got out of the shower and my hair was a noodle-y mess. i tried to brush it and hair was breaking like crazy. i just bundled it in a towel and let it dry. when i took the towel off my hair was so frizzy it was out to my shoulders. I don't think I ever cried over my hair before that day. It took me 2 years to repair the damage, and even to this day, despite me having grown out all of the damage, it still doesn't feel the same. This lady claimed to be a stylist for almost 30 years and a salon owner for almost 20. You would think she would know what she was doing. She even damaged my shirt. covered in bleach stains. Literally, the worst salon experience I have ever had.
So, I am honestly to the point that I would rather spend 30-40 bucks to ruin my hair all on my own. at least my broken/damaged hair tears won't include me crying over the money I saved up to have it done.

One of the local bleach kits here called Bleach Cloud comes with a load of 30 volume developer, an a 167g pack of slightly dusty bleach powder. For some reason it doesn't stink that much when mixed and applied, compared to the blue powder we can get from a vaciador (a local and generic Sallys-like place) in the Philippines.
It was a bit milder too I guess? Not entirely sure but it did not fry my locks, didn't sting on my scalp, and lifted level 0 virgin to around level 8-9 after 1 session of processing for an hour, with a-OK strand tug tests every five minutes or so. It did kinda souffle up under the plastic and it heated up like no one's business, but the results are fab.
Oh, it arrives with latex gloves, a rat tail comb + brush, and mixing bowl too so definitely a fan. I wish they sold just the powder so I can use, say, a 20 volume developer.

Good to see, I don't use bleach but use Garnier Nutrisse colours for over 25 yrs now, always been a mousey blonde. Have never ever been disappointed. Never needed extra treatments on my hair ever, and always commended on the condition of my hair when i have it cut.
I'm in Sweden and a standard salon cut (without eve washing, that is extra)costs about $80, colours start at around $300. No way i can do that and maintain roots.
My worst experience was with the Loreal color vista, i tried a dark plum on my now very greying hair. and got bright pink. Still waiting on that growing on to put on a nutrisse grey shade, think my grey finally reached point of no return. lol
Aiming to colour remove the pink first, don't want to risk bleach at home, then the grey shade after a few days perhaps. Still a little darker than my white hairs so hoping it will work. lol

Hey, Brad I love your videos. I always dye my mom's hair with garnier box dye. I only end up using 1 bottle because she has thin hair, even though it's mid length (hopefully that's what shoulder length is. Her natural hair color is dark blonde and when I dye it (unprofessionally) it turns out very light. Idk if it's because I put on the dye for 40 minutes and she sits with it for another 40 minutes, but it turns out very well for someone who has no skill dying hair that's only a high school senior (I've never dyed my own hair, so I'm very professional ) Her hair stays healthy afterwards. Just thought I'd say to give that company a bit more credit for being so cheap.

I use Feria bleach and it works real well to go from black to blonde. But I learned real quick that I have to wait for my hair to completely grow out again in order to bleach it again because it will become stretchy and completely damaged and basically turned to mush if I try to bleach it again month later if any of that part that has been previously bleached is still attached to my head

I like Garnier. I prefer Loreal Excellence Cream box color. It comes with an extra bottle cap that is shaped like a comb with 7 prongs that all have holes and it makes it much easier to get the mixture evenly on my hair. The conditioner is OK. I use the little tube of conditioner to shave my legs, it makes my skin super soft. I buy a separate, better conditioner for my hair

Great video, thank you for that. I have lightened my hair for a few years now and so far the only hair mask that has made significant positive difference is the Garnier papaya hair food 3 in 1 mask. I use it every time I wash and let it sit for about half an hour. You can also use it as conditioner or you can leave it in. Highly recommended and very affordable

I wouldn't be surprised if the Garnier and L'Oreal ones are the same, aside from the packaging and maybe conditioner, side Garnier is owned by L'Oreal. Brad, I'm so glad you'll test stuff like this instead of just turning your nose up at it. I usually do powdered bleach and developer, but sometimes the convenience of box is just nice.

I used a semi permanent purple colour on my hair last year. After a couple of washes the purple washed out and I was left with bleach hair it was only a couple of shades lighter but still it was really annoying. Ive got some major grown out roots but Im scared of dyeing my ends darker if something similar were to happen

I used to box dye my hair once a month from 13-19 and I almost always used the garnier brand! The colour deposits well and it leaves your hair feeling soft and not dead! Never bleached, but I have gone everywhere from light blonde, red, purple, orange, dark brown etc

I believe the conditioner in box dyes are ones that leave hella deposits in your hair to make it feel extra soft.
Anytime u use a new conditioner (good ones) will leave your hair feeling lovely but it's prob just the change of product.

I would love your thoughts on Madison Reed. I am too scared to try a DIY blonde kit at home. I see the Madison Reed salon popping up across the county. Going to the salon and touch-up at home seems less scary. I truly value your opinion.

L'Oreal colorista is the best. My hair started growing long after I switched to this product. Just don't use the anti brass conditioner. It will dull the color. Also switch order of powder and cream.

I think they put the conditioner in there so you try their product and maybe decide you like that better than what you've been using. So, probably a marketing thing.
