This Is Montreal's Best Burger Shack Dining on a Dime

On today's episode of DOD, Lucas is at Chez Tousignant, a burger shack in Montreal. Weekend_Logic: Been living 10 minutes away from this place for over 2 years but never been! Mainly because we never actually plan to eat this kind of food over here, it's something that usually just happens, often when under a certain influence, and typically in the wee hours, when few places are still open. But I'll try to give this place a go some time.

This guy is a fake news (probably paid to give good reviews. This Buger Shack, Chez Tousignant, is a NO GO! I know. I live right next to it. VERY expensive for NOT much, regular poutine, hot dogs made from poor meat, and their fries are saggy, dull and greasy. Expect to pay more than 20 for a simple trio. Rip off!

Lucas is a real pro! It is so easy for food show hosts to come across as pretentious or overbearing. He's got this calm natural enthusiasm and the confidence to let his interviewees talk, and give a clear direct and personal narration of the food he's eating. I can hear it in my back molars, the squeak.

Is it because I'm Canadian that I don't consider Montreal or anywhere else in Canada worthy of dining on a dime? I don't feel like anywhere in Canada has enough genuine culture to warrant a dining on a dime episode e similar to Miami or Rome, etc. Maybe becuase Canada has no world class cities

I just ate at this place the other day, that big mike burger is one of the best burgers Ive had in my life. This place isnt cheap tho, the big mike was 13, just the burger alone. That might be fine if youre alone but this place gets pricey for a family.

pewteen is probably how its pronounced worldwide but in good old quebecois its more like poo_tin. Never heard of Tousignant but Ill definitely give it a try this week. Thank you for this episode that was super entertaining. Now Im craving some cheating.

I like how the Italian guy can juggle English, French (given that he lives in Montreal there's no way he can speak french with an accent & not get judged) & Italian without a specific accent shadowing the other 2. Kudos to you on that chef.

so this Italian dude is talking about authenticity and eating from the place of origin, uses poutine as an example, which is not Italian, in a burger shack. which burgers did not originate in Italy. or Canada.

Definitely cant get 2 burgers, 2 hot dogs, 1 corn dog, 1 large poutine and a milkshake for 30. Lucas is talking about his original order but the editor sneaked in a shot which included the food for the crew no doubt.

out of ALL the burger joints in Montreal - this is not the best place - it doesnt ring anywhere in the top 5 during burger week. Went once - never again - the only good thing there is the bottled soda.
