Learn how to make a Bacon Asparagus Dutch Baby iWishmaster: It look tasty, but I've never seen a more wrongly named dish. The batter is somewhat similar to German and/or Dutch pancakes, but neither are prepared in this manner: they are never finished in the oven, always flipped in the pan and fried on both sides. It's worth a try making it that way: use 1/4 buckwheat flour and 3/4 regular flour, skip the cheese and add the fat (molten butter) into the batter. Fry whatever you like and pour the batter on top, then put the cheese on top and flip it once of twice to cook through. It results in a thicker, more dense pancake with a little more punch. I like this American variation though, especially the way it looks, very fluffy and delicious

Once again, a lovely dish, Chef I was drawn to your comment about its versatility and the possibilities for a variety of ingredients. Of course, it begins with eggs, a hen's way of saying thank you to her keeper for food, water, range to roam and shelter from predators and inclement weather. It brings to mind the classic quiche, the Spanish tortilla and the simple omelet All wonders in their own right, but with bacon as a perfect partner.

Lazy Sunday night, did not feel like cooking much nor shopping and then I saw this recipe & couldn't believe it - I had all the ingredients at home. It was quick, delicious & came out precisely as in the video (OK, I added green onion. And there's enough left over for lunch today Thanks Chef John for an unexpected moment of serendipity

We have a dish here in Sweden that is very similar to this, it's called Ugnspannkaka, or directly translated Oven Pancake. The basic version of which is a batter that's very similar to pancake batter combined with crispy bacon all poured into an oven pan and done in the oven. This is usually eaten with Lingonberry Jam.

Thanks Chef for this great recipe. I used two small zucchini instead, as asparagus was out of season. I also added some minced shallot and garlic about 45 seconds after I added the veggies into the hot bacon and oil. The result was incredibly delicious. Served it up with a simple salad and a bottle of white wine.

So it is done. Although we had no cayenne home and I made it with whole flour, it was fantastic. Full of taste and texture. Even our old and decently aged gas oven in combination with a silicon form (only round thing we have) can't ruined it, it's just took a bit longer. A very nice meal indeed.

By the way, regarding your sawdust comment, that was one particular brand of so-called parmesan cheese which was a Walmart brand. And, a customer sued them earlier this year. HOWEVER, we must all beware of the ingredient cellulose which is wood chips used in a lot of other foods we eat as well

Hi. I made this, this morning. It came out good. I had small farm eggs and decided to use 4 eggs. This made my Dutch Baby more custardy and dense. Still a very tasty dish. I will cut back on the bacon by one strip next time, as I tasted very little of the asparagus because of it.

I you like this, you would love the Thai style, crispy ommelette. It's a silimilar idea-ommelette loaded with stuff (I prefer onion, basil, and fresh chilli, and deep fried to fluffy, crispy cloud. It's pretty greasy though, so you have to let it drain a bit before eating.
