Made these today and they came out excellent. I did make a bit of a mistake I wasn't paying attention and added 1 table spoon and a half of baking powder instead of 1 teaspoon and a half. This made the batter almost double in size. it became really frothy and airy. That being said they still came out extremely good and everybody inhaled them down.

I worked in a doughnut shop, briefly and a long time ago. The way we made apple fritters was to take all the scraps from making cinnamon rolls and glue them together with apple jam. Fry and glaze. I always liked the doughnut shop apple fritters, before and after I knew how they were made. So I'm going to have to try this just to compare.

What a pleasantly lilting speech pattern you have, It sounds like you are the father of HDDB Dog's Breakfast (retired E-sports shout-caster, sounded like Chef John mixed with an auctioneer. Anyway, I appreciate the light humor of your videos, paired with the greater depth of your blog. Your videography inspires me Subbed

Those look very nice. I make apple fritters by partially cooking my apples in butter with the spices then mixing them with pancake batter and cooking them the same as you would cook pancakes. Probably not as good as these, but for people who are calorie phobic, they are probably slightly lower cal.

You, sir, are awesome & are my hero Apple fritters have always been my favorite donut but I never get them because of the reasons you stated. (One time, someone had made them with apple pie filling in the center, like a jelly filled. They should have been hung by their toe nails ick)

I love the fritters. but soggy balls of rubber dough ruined al my attempts. Thanks for this recipe. The carbon bubbles for the win. I bet pancake dough, buttermilk variety gets it done quicker. I hack your recipes like I hack an 87 subaru.

I have not learned my lesson. I keep watching your videos late at night and dreaming of food as a result. Maybe that's not a problem, but if I can't fit through my front door, I blame you, Chef John. Thanks for the great content: )
