My friend Chef John. excellent recipe. Just one small piece of humble advice. Snatch off the tags on the tea bags. Personally I don't trust the paper and the ink certain manufacturers use. We don't want any of those chemicals leeching off into anything we're about to consume. Otherwise then that keep up the fabulous work my friend. Signing off. Chef Magic

I do something similar, but use Darjeeling loose-leaf tea and add some slices of ginger to the spice mix, and lemon and honey instead of tamarind and sugar. And as I'm from the UK I drink it hot. :)

Not many people know that the actual Thai Tea only has artificial vanilla and the yellow food coloring.
As a Thai, I thank Chef John for elevating it into something more worthy of all the fame it gets.
Very excited to try this recipe.

During this heatwave in the northeast I've been drinking iced tea with lemonade and ice coffee with chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon, this tea blows those away, I've got to try it

The only two problems I have with Chef John, whom I otherwise adore, is his refusal to use metric weight for recipe measurements and his use of WAY TOO MUCH sugar in recipes.

Chef John went from showing us a lighter, less sweet tea to I'm going to give you all diabetes. in 3 minutes flat with that little touch of sugar.

Lived here in Thailand for 40 years and have never seen the stuff, Thais don't like to make tea much, they buy Lipton in plastic bottles.

Awesome but people do NOT ruin it with a paper straw. Noooooooooo! Paper straws ruin the taste of everything. Glass or steel straws work.

Can the tamarind paste be omitted or replaced with something I'm guessing it's an ingredient that's gonna be hard to come by.
