Summer Meat Slaw - Pulled Pork Coleslaw - Food Wishes

This summer meat slaw is probably the most exciting thing to happen to coleslaw in centuries. You can use leftover pulled pork, grilled chicken, barbecued beef, or any other type of cooked, shred-able meat, but no matter what you use, this is unlike any slaw you've ever had, and your summer cookouts will never be the same.

So, Chef John, who I greatly admire, enjoy and wish I could repeat every recipe, do you have a secret fridge which keeps many semi-used ingredients fresh What's the premium way to keep fresh food fresh Is there a poster a website a resource book which tells us minions how to keep for a few days, a specific ingredient before freezing

I love this dish. You can make it without the meat, and add it on many things like rice, beans, a sandwich.
I love to put a BUNCH of black pepper to where it almost blackens up and cook it all with some olive oil. Adding paprika on top also gives it a nice taste.

I love this idea! I think cooked cabbage is so underrated! I love to cook a whole head of cabbage with sliced onions and fresh basil salt pepper and crushed garlic. Great side dish hot or cold. I’m making this numerous times this summer! Thanks Chef John!

I have no interest in meat slaw, but I do like the concept of cooked slaw. One of my favorite ways to eat red cabbage is to shred it and cook it with spices and a bit of apple cider vinegar, and I generally eat it over rice. This post inspires me to up my game.

Nice! I do something a bit similar with Teriyaki chicken, cabbage, green onion, carrot, sesame oil, and some Yum Yum Sauce. I also tried Jamaican hot cabbage mixed with pulled pork and it was awesome.

This sounds great. For a twist, I’m thinking about putting in some Carolina vinegary bbq sauce instead of rice vinegar for more flavor since it already has the pulled pork

I guess this adage is out the window. Because no great story ever started with someone eating a salad. i see a viognier pairing in my near future. Muchas gracias Chef!

As someone with the dreaded cilantro gene, how good would you say this might be sans cilantro Looks pretty yummy but I thought I'd ask before trying to make it!

It's 27 degrees in Yorkshire and I'm gunna fire up the bbq. Tandoori pork steaks, lamb kofta, bbq chicken wings and lemon and herb chicken. Nooooice indeed

I'm thinking it would make a great taco filling, or better yet-- a rip off of (er, I mean homage to) the Won Ton tacos served at the famous chain restaurant.

How do chefs practice the flip Because I have seen several chefs flat pan flips that take a degree of strength and skill. I know that flipping in a wok is easy.

This recipe does not sound good. So I’m going to quit listening to it and make it instead and maybe then I will have a different and more favorable opinion.

I love the name of this dish! I've definitely made similar dishes off the top of my head before and I can say that I am certain this would be excellent.

I love slaw, and I love pork it just shouldn't be in the same bowl together not to mention you destroyed it at the end with cilantro SOAP. YUCK!

I love all of Chef John's videos, but somehow the words Meat and Slaw strike me as two words that should never inhabit the same sentence!

Not only is this the most exciting thing to happen to coleslaw in centuries, but it's one of the most exciting things to happen to Summer!

Looks great and sounds like it's going to taste great. Love the crunchy juicy contrasted with the soft and kinda dry-by-comparison meat.

You could reserve 1/4 your amount of cabbage till after youve cooked the rest to your liking to further retain that Coleslaw texture

This, in a wrap or a pita, sounds like the perfect hot summer day dinner. Not a lot of cooking but so much flavor and good veggies!

Note to self: Try combining Chef John's whole hog recipe with his kalua pork recipe. There are ribs and tenderloin in the freezer.
