You have to try this potato bread recipe. The potatoes bring a special flavor and texture to this bread. It is that good that you can just eat it as it is no bother to add anything else on it. Ingredients: Makes 1 big loaf 1 pound (500 g) white floury potatoes (about 3-4 medium potatoes) 4 cups bread flour 1/2 up to 3/4 cup (120-140 ml) water from boiling potatoes 2 tsp salt 2 tbsp (30g) oil (olive or sunflower oil) 25 g fresh yeast (2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast) 1 tsp brown sugar You can get the full recipe here:

Made this tonight. Absolutely the best potato bread I have ever made and my family loved it. The color and texture was beautiful and so tasty I doubled the recipe, divided into three, shaped them into rounds and baked them in round cake pans coated with vegetable oil cooking spray. I preheated the oven to 550 and turned it down to 450 right after I put it in to bake. It took 25 minutes total, rotating the loaves after 15 minutes. It was perfect with homemade chicken noodle soup. I will definitely make this again. Thank you for sharing your recipe

OMG, this reminds me so much of my mom. Saturday's when I was growing up was bread making day, her favorite was potato bread. I got to peel the potatoes when cooked. She would mash the potatoes with some sugar, she said to sweeten them and I got to taste the potato sugar mash; o) the yeast, butter, flour, oil, all made the house smell amazing before even baking. She always put the bread bowl on top of our fridge so the dough could rise (its warm up there, she would say. I might make some potato bread this weekend. Thank you

i heard that Czechs made potato bread in the past, but we in Croatia never had it. my first contact potato bread was some 10-ish years ago. when 2008 recession started, our local baker started baking similar breads because people didnt have a lot of money and wheat was expensive and potatoes cheap. i remember how cheap this bread was, compared to even basic wheat breads, it was half of price, truly amazing, and it was also denser. as i love denser, darker breads, i tried it and loved it

If someone else hasn't already mentioned this, you could be sneaky and use cauliflower instead of potatoes. That's to make children eat their vegetables. But you will probably have to evaporate a little liquid off once you've mashed the cauliflower, or use less of the potato water in your dough mix.

I used this recipe to try out my new mixer yesterday and it tasted absolutely amazing. it had a crunchy crust. I used cast iron pan coz u didn't have a dutch oven. I have one question, the bread was pretty dense, can you tell me a way improve that. thanks

Wat kind of pot did you use for baking the bread? can I place the dough on a baking tray instead n bake covered with foil then remove the foil n bake again?
