Today we’re going on a huge Thai curry (known as Khao Gaeng ) tour in Bangkok, from the best street food to fine dining, we’ll try Thai rice and curry at a street food stall for $1, a gourmet seafood street food stall for $5, and we’ll see how Chef Chalee transforms Thai rice and curry to an incredible gourmet level while keeping the authentic taste for $150. If you love Thai curry, this is as good as it gets! Here are the places I ate: 1. Khao Gaeng Waraporn ( ) - This Thai street food curry stall is tucked in an alley and they serve a continual stream of customers. Everything is good, but no one missed their extra crispy fried chicken. 45 THB ($1. 33) 2. Pa Tim Thai Curry ( ) - Aunty Tim is known for her quality and premium ingredients served on the streets of Bangkok - we’re talking river prawns and stuffed squid. And the flavors are worth every bite! 200 THB ($5. 92) 3. Wana Yook ( ) - Wana Yook is in my opinion one of the best Thai fine dining restaurant in the world, and I like it even more that Chef Chalee Kader tributes his menu to Thai rice and curry from the streets. With 1 Michelin Star, if you’re looking for uncompromised Thai food flavors, yet with exceptional quality and ingredients sourced from around Thailand, Wana Yook is a top choice. Price - approximately 4, 500 THB ($133. 30) Go check out Chef Chalee Kader Chapters: 0: 00 Intro to Thai Curry 0: 44 Thai Street Food Curry 10: 19 Premium Thai Street Food 22: 26 Wana Yook (Chef Chalee Kader) 42: 57 Ending and Dessert

Thank you, Mark, for taking us to three different restaurants! It was a joy to see, taste, and savor every single bite with you.
Khao Gang is definitely a must-try for food lovers visiting Thailand. There are many varieties of Khao Gang restaurants, catering to different budgets. Naturally, the price reflects the food quality, delicacy, expertise, and ingredients each restaurant carefully selects.
I have experienced Thai cuisine at one, two, and three Michelin-starred restaurants. The chef shared the inspiration behind each dish, and I was mesmerized by the origin and taste of the different ingredients. I really love them all, yet, I still prefer street version where I can enjoy local atmosphere and the kindness of Thai people around me.
Keep it going Mark!

Absolutely AMAZING as always Mark. I absolutely LOVE Thai food, My cousin's wife is Thai as well. I also run an Airline in my Head. That Airline is called Theolord Airlines, or, TA. It was established in August 2013, and has won many great awards for best service, best food, and best hospitality, The fleet of Theolord Air (TA, consists of every aircraft from the small bombardier to huge and famous A380. So whenever I sit down to a meal, I'm imagining me filling up one of those Aircraft, of wherever I want that plane to fly to. whether it be to, Asia, USA, UK, South America, Mexico, Canada, Europe etc etc. And I do the flights all in my head, Awesome eh. Keep up the great videos, all the best.
Alex.

I have two friends based on Bangkok for about five years. One of them is a health nut and only eats non-thai food in restaurants. The other one eats thai street food every meal to save money. The latter just passed away from liver failure. According to the first friend, fish sauce is many times more lethal than salt. Be careful in what you eat.

I'd be at the street level rice and curry kitchens all day, every day. I can only imagine being able to walk down the street, smelling all this glorious food being made, and having such a wide variety of choices. Here, it's either a taco shop, fast food, or overpriced restaurants. I need to book a flight to Thailand for sure!

Your videos have always been great but, recently, seem to have made a quantum leap in quality. I appreciate the efforts of your small team. In watching these episodes about open air markets and street food vendors I keep wondering about sanitary standards and lack of refrigeration. Is it safe

The curry looked amazing, the last places you had gone to was the best one, all of the plates worked very well together, the flavors, ingredients and sauce and spices too. but all of the other places displayed their food very well how they worked together to create delicious meals. ingredients

The thai place i eat at also includes a soft duck egg but its salted so taking it down as a one biter would be about gross. the oniy way to eat it is by breaking off small pieces and enjoying the hit of umami in excery bite and adding fish sauce to your duck egg would be about a salt overdose

living in bkk have noticed when a street food place gains popularity among tourists the prices also go up. about that 150 dollar food. 10 people can eat great tasting large portion pretty much the same/similar dishes sharing for a fraction of that price without the faux french presentation
reply

At the last place all the dishes look incredible and well thought out but for me I would have to pick the second place because what you get and what you pay to me is a lot better deal
But that’s just my own personal opinion

Love your contents Mark, without you our cuisine would not be as well known to the world as now.
Your contents also helps finding a secret food spots in Thailand and around the world as well.
I'm a Thai Foodie as well.

To avoid food-borne illness common in Thailand street food, I would definitely choose to pay $150 instead of $1/$5. It may seemed a lot especially in BKK, but it's worth avoiding hospital visits and ruining your vacation.

How is this economically profitable for the owner I mean, raw chicken costs easily 4$ a pound at any USA market, the chicken piece cost right there would exceed the $1. 33 USD. It is amazing and so unfair.
reply

WOW! that $1 nutritious meals will cost $ 40 or more at Thai restaurants in the USA. The chicken are probably farm raised and tasted better there than steroid raised chickens at KFC in the USA .
reply

3: 33 for $1. 33 dollars for all that food and with eggs! Currently with the egg shortage in the states, you can barely afford eggs for $1. 33. Economy is soooo bad here, and its makes me sad lol
reply

I can't think of a single reason I'd go to a pretentious restaurant to get, in essence, the same street food I could get from a vendor which is so hearty, reasonably priced and good quality.
