I've been considering moving to Thailand when I retire for a few years now. My only concern was that I greatly dislike fish or seafood, which means I'd starve to death if I didn't live somewhere like in Chiang Mai where beef and pork are more common, which would have been fine too. But I'm surprised a burger culture is breaking out in Bangkok. There was not a single on of these burgers that I would turn away at all, and I do tend to be picky. The final one, Homeburg, is a great experience. Not something I could do to often. But the man is a wizard and I hope I have the pleasure of securing a reservation one day. The sonic fries I found particularly fascinating. Not too many people really try to do something unique with fries these days. Seriously, every one of them was great.

I met Taiki in a bar opposite his restaurant 3 years ago. He took me and my friends into his lab and I know I needed to try his food!
After showing us one of his favourite late night dinner spots with his team and a few beers, I decided to book the Burger tasting course. I didn’t know much about him, or the restaurant, but knew he was a lovely guy and had some serious equipment to make a burger.
Well, Mark here says it how it is. The best burger in the world! It’s a unique take and won’t satisfy everyone, but for someone who appreciates food, produce and most importantly care and craft, Homeburg nails it!
Can’t wait to go back.

Daniel Thaiger was a favorite of mine, unfortunately their locations are constantly changing and shrinking. I believe they only operate out of one food truck now and possibly one other location. It’s too difficult to find their locations as they are always changing. I remember their location at Nerd on Soi Thonglor that eventually changed to Game Over was my favorite. As for your video Mark, I could not agree with you more that Bangkok is the burger capital of the world!

As a child 40 years ago, I thought this era would be ruled by technology and flying cars. (It kinda is, smart phones etc) But cuisine is ruling it.
Life today is a little less glamorous than I imagined it would be, but I love everything that reminds me I am living in this fantasy future.

Idk. I’ve been here 15 years and I’ve tried a couple of these burgers. They’re expensive, and I’ll admit, they look good. But they always underwhelm me, especially for the price. A 65 baht in n out burger in usa beats or equals them. People do the same thing with Mexican food here. They swear it’s good, but it’s not. It’s just a bunch of English guys who have no idea what mexican food even is.

that homeburg part was crazy. i have no words for it, but to reference lovecraft and the unknown, id liken the precision in it to watching some kind of surgery procedure in an emergency room or, since we are talking food here, maybe like the setting in 2001 a space odyssey where bowman ends up in a room toward the end and is presented with green jelly for food. i dunno. awesome video!

very cool you got all those choices there, heck we dont have that good even here in the USA in Jacksonville fl, those prices are cheap. well that last place is just nuts. 10 bucks is my burger limit, double maybe 13 to 15. tops. after that i have to slap myself.

Thailand is one of my favorite places but I never knew they were big on burgers.
Thailand already has amazing food - spicy but I loved it. Good fighters too - best place for me.
Also the history of Thailand reads like a myth but it was all real.

Love watching Mark Wiens videos and his reactions to eating good food. But I have very simple taste buds and eat like a kid, I get the same reaction when I bite into my steak quesadilla from Taco Bell every day.

A big thing that people do with beef is over cook it. Never over cook beef and don't smash the juice out of burgers when cooking unless you're doing a smash burger, after smashing no more pushing down on it

This format of trying multiple similar places around the city is great. We always stay in the Lat Phrao area and having new places to try nearby instead of having to go downtown is a giant plus. Thank you.

Im watching this while eating potatoes with salmon fillets steamed veggies with minty yoghurt sauce on top. Dont know which is better though watching this after a long day of fasting is so worth it!

My believe is that when they Smash those Beef Patties on a hot grill it smashes out all the juiciness of the patty and you end up with a DRY Patty! That's Why I don't care for or like Smash Burgers!

Why are all the burgers cheesy, greasy, mayomaxed and totally disgusting
Also adding bacon is a total loss.
Also making medium rare steak from minced meat is not considered hygienic.
