Yo Mark, you did such a great job representing Santo Domingo aka Dominican Republic the right way. Thanks for talking about the Arawak Taino culture a little during the Pasteles part. People need to know our culture. It's often misunderstood. We are a beautiful mix of different nations the first being Taino, second Spanish, and third African. We with love embrace them all. I'm happy you love our food. Our culture is very beautiful and full of joyful people that are very family oriented. I look forward to seeing another video on DR, and I hope you also make some videos on the island of Boriken aka Puerto Rico. Peace and love brotha. Muchisima gracias, y como dicen los Tainos, Seneco kakona tiao! That means many blessings!

Wow Mark. I apologize for this introduction of our countries food. I can assure you that empanadas is not a Dominican breakfast, so for this guy to take you to eat empanadas as an introduction was terrible. There is sooo many great breakfasts in the DR and that's all this guy could come up with taking you to eat. Also, the food could have been better and so could have the fried food. I am highly disappointed by this guy who took you on a tour, but I am glad to have you hear in DR.

Welcome to the DR Mark. he did ok but could have done soooooooooo much better you got a very small taste of the food and we dont eat everything with Ketchup that guy is obsessed with ketchup. the original chimi spot was about a mile away Patricios since 1970 and made with roast pork and they have platters. claudio sells pattys like a burger not a real chimi.

No way! The way my jaw dropped when I saw the title of this video. I’ve been watching mark videos for so long and I never thought he would consider coming to DR
I was watching his Shanghai series yesterday and I wondered when I was going to watch a video of him in DR now it’s possible to see it

Moises got it the other way around, 9: 55, that called Moro de habichuela (this one specifically habichuela roja) and the stew that is shown next in the video, the one that he pours on the white rice are guandules guisados, not habichuela. I'm Dominican aswell just wanted to clear that up.

I'm thrilled you got to experience my country! For an unforgettable food tour and insider knowledge on our stunning beaches, rivers, and local cuisine, I highly recommend reaching out to AndariegoDO. They're the perfect guide to show you the best of our culture!

Mark next time get someone who isnt what we dominicans call a LAMBONNNNNNN HES JUST THERE TO EAT NOT EVEN PROPERLY TEACHING YOU THE CORRECT WAY OF THE MEALS he said yes to everything and ate before you thats just bad etiquette

So I learned Dominican Republic has no food culture or cuisine. its just a boring Caribbean amalgamation. People look sincere. A bit too boring to book a stay. Plantains and pork copied from Puerto Rico. Glad to skip visiting.

I was in Santo Domingo in the 90s. I love their plaintains, stews, . especially their street food. However, I found the vendors aggressive, chasing after us. Mark, you do very well being your own guide, without him.
reply

Looks like crime is very high there. Gated fried chicken Why be bothered and I hate it when one person handles all the food, puts theirs on it and then takes a piece. How rude in my country I cannot watch anymore!

Mark those pastels de Hoya were not meant to eaten in that way. Nobody eats them that way normally. No deli ham or cheese on topjust ketchup or hot sauce. Too bad your guide ruined every dish with ketchup.
reply

At least you tried la bandera and chimichurri, but please come back for more days. You didn't eat los tres golpes, sancocho, and many more choices. Your guide pissed me off, destroying the fd with ketchup.

This just made my day mark you have to try sancocho for sure it’s going to touch the soul add some lime and hot sauce after the first bite for a flavor bomb
reply

That was a masterclass in Dominican street foodm greatly missed. Mofongo, chen chen, and yaroas are both really good as well. And the Dominican hot dogs!
reply

You should try chivo which is goat MEAT in the Dr, as a dominican from the north, where locals call the linea, our best dishes are based in goat meat.

Who cares about Christopher C, what about the First people's who were there First! All the islands had First People's! You can do better, Mark!
reply

I thought the first island he supposedly discovered or landed on was in the Bahamas. An island called the Guanahani
I could be wrong
