More information about visiting Bangkok's Baan Silapin ): Baan Silapin, also known as Bangkok's Artist's House or Baan Khlong Bang Luang, is a two hundred year old wooden home in the city. It's located across the Chao Phraya river from much of downtown Bangkok, in an area known as Thonburi, right along one of the main canals. Arriving to Baan Silapin ) is a real throwback in time, it feels like you're far removed from the chaos and clutter of Bangkok and back to how the city was when it first started to be settled and developed. The only reason you know you're still in Bangkok is the obnoxious thundering longtail boats that zoom past every few minutes. The Artist's House is along one of the main tour canals, so it does have a lot of boat traffic - but it's still a great place to visit. So we arrived to Baan Silapin ) in the early afternoon and after walking around a few of the shops, we then went straight to Bangkok Artist's House and decided to grab lunch. Khao gaeng, or a variety of Thai curries and prepared dishes was on the menu. I chose a bowl mushroom coconut milk curry, bitter melon stuffed with pork, a fried mackerel fish and omelet served with shrimp paste hot sauce, and a plate of rice topped with a fried egg. Sitting on the side of the house with a view of the canal was a memorable way to enjoy a feast. The food was good and the view was excellent. At 2 pm each day except Wednesday (and occasional off days when the dancers get hired off site for a private event) there's traditional Thai puppet show. The show is one of the main reasons to visit Baan Silapin ) in Bangkok. The performance was very well done and the puppets depicted a story from Hanuman. I was impressed and I would highly recommend the show to anyone who visits Bangkok. After the Thai traditional puppet show, we had a coffee and sat relaxing at Baan Silapin ) for a few more minutes before heading back to the road and catching a taxi home. Bangkok Artist's House is still an off the beaten track attraction to explore in Bangkok. Hey Mark: ) Ive been meaning to ask for a long time, if it would be possible for you to add a link in your article, to the video clips you show at the end? I want to make sure I havent missed a video: ) I always read your articles too as your great writing adds even more to the experience I hope you dont have to add it to the video as in annotations, because then I would have to click it before I finish the video and also reading. Yes, I'm trying to keep up with videos and posts that correlate, but so far it's been a little confusing as there are so many videos and articles. I'm going to work to do it better. Thanks for watching and for the question. This video was taken a couple weeks ago, but I have so many videos from past trips (since I only publish 2 videos per week, that I'm getting behind. I think what I'll do now is try to publish 1 video per week that's current, and 1 video that past.

Thanks for another great BKK video. Love the place. I often stay at a place on Charan Sanit Wong Soi 40 but I've never been here I sure will when I go back in 4 weeks. You do more for BKK tourism than any folder at the train station. Thanks

Hello Camilo, I would recommend using a debit or credit card to take money from an ATM, but having a little US cash is a good idea for an emergency. But you can exchange nearly all main currencies in Thailand. Enjoy
