Blog: Get my food and travel updates: Day 2 of food and attractions in Langkawi, heres what we did: We started the day at The Andaman Hotel, and ate the buffet breakfast in the morning. The food was quite good and the buffet was very extensive. Theres nothing I enjoy doing more than eating fish curry for breakfast. After breakfast we drove to the SkyCab, which is one of Langkawis most famous attractions, a cable car that goes up the side of the second highest peak in Langkawi. We took a ride on the glass bottom gondola car, and the ride took about 10 or 15 minutes to reach the top. I especially liked the glass bottom to get views of what was below us as well. At the top of the Langkawi SkyCab there is another attraction called the SkyBridge, bridge that spans from one peak to the next. It was pretty cool to walk along the bridge and enjoy the view. Also, located in the same complex, we went to Art In Paradise, which was a painting museum the are made for taking photos. So you stand in front of the painting and take photos - it was quite well done. For lunch we went to Malaysia 1 Restoran and went to a restaurant called Mr. Asam Pedas, who specializes in a Malaysian food called asam pedas, a spicy and sour curry. I had the asam pedas with fish, which was incredibly good - the flavors of the curry were extremely good, and I loved all the herbs and spices included. One of the main reasons my wife and I were invited to Langkawi was to attend the Langkawi Laksa Carnival, a festival celebrating the dish of laksa, which is a number of different types of noodles and curry. I wasnt exactly sure what to expect, but today was the opening ceremony and so we first walked around and ate some amazing noodles - some Chinese hand pulled noodles, and a laksa from the Malaysian state of Kelantan, both of which were extremely good. I was then asked to be part of a simple cooking competition, and though I had no idea what I was doing, it was a lot of fun. After the Laksa Carnival opening, we then went to Ayer Hangat Night Market, which is a local food market on Friday night. Everything looked delicious, but I had to go with a dish called nasi kerabu, rice with toasted coconut and herbs, and then I chose some fish and fish cakes to go on top. We also had beef curry with sticky rice which was also delicious. The food at Ayer Hangat Night Market was fantastic Thank you to Naturally Langkawi and Tourism Malaysia for sponsoring our trip to Langkawi, and for Kash Island Adventures for touring us. this video

Hi Mark, love your videos. However, as a Malay, I must correct you in calling every Malay dish a curry. Yes, a lot of our dishes have sauces and gravy that contain either curry leaves or coconut milk or both, but that doesn't mean they are all to be called curries. We usually refer to the dishes by the sauces, for which we would say kuah, which essentially means, gravy. Like, masak kuah kicap which means cooked in soy sauce, or masak kuah kari (curry) which means. cooked in curry sauce or gravy. A lot of Malay dishes have influences and integration from everywhere, like Thailand, Chinese, and India and many others. Hope this helps: )

Hi mark I really enjoy your videos. in malaysia if you want to taste indian and chinese food at its best then you should go to penang which you already done but if you want to taste the malay food at its best you should go to kelantan. it is the cradle of malay food. the nasi kerabu and laksam(laksa kelantan)you already taste originated. along with many colourful sweet kueh(desert.

Look The Anderman hotel is really great, and so it should beIt's 5star. The island is not what you make it out to be. Cloudy water all the year round expensive food. Watch out for the jelly fish. If you do swim. better do it from a boat. I love Malaysia, spent a lot of time there Langkawi not worth it

Nice vid but I gotta say this: Assam Pedas is the name of the dish. Yes, Assam means sour and Pedas means spicy, but Assam Pedas is this type of dish. Think of a restaurant called Mr. Sweet and Sour. It does not mean food is sweet and sour, it means they serve a mean sweet and sour dish.

Asam pedas are one of many dishes that's a person should taste before leaving Malaysia. But personally, I think I've tasted the best asam pedas in Malacca, Malaysia. You should give it a try if you ever come back to Malaysia Mark. Lovely stuff as always. Keep it up mate
