After doing a search on Foursquare, I found a shabu shabu hot pot restaurant nearby and we decided to check it out. Hot pot is one of the most popular meals in Taiwan, and I especially like it because its fun to cook, and its a good way to eat - plus you get to eat delicious sauce Heres the restaurant: The restaurant was pretty local Taiwanese style, and the menu was all in Chinese, so I just ordered a plate of pork for my wife, and a plate of beef for me. The plate of vegetables came complimentary, and the beef came in thin rolls. The soup was plain, but boiling hot and we each had our own hot pot. One of the things I really liked about is that they had an all you can eat sauce bar - so you could get a bowl and then pile in as many things as you wanted into your sauce - I chose garlic and chilies, and some kind of dark sauce. Overall, my wife and I both really enjoyed out meal at this hot pot shabu shabu restaurant in Taipei, and Id recommend it to you if youre in the area. The

Mr. Mark: ur videos r very informational n tasty (esp. thai food in details, learned alot here. tks Im a big fan now fr. Taiwan v. btw 'shabu shabu' does mean the hotpot in japanese (meaning dipping slices of meat into hotpot few secs. eating this way to keep the fresh meat taste) Yes, the cold fried pork ribs u ate by accident r meant to be into hot soup rt in the beginning till at least 5 mins to enrich flavors of hotpot as well as many other ingridients. The sauce for tradi. taiwanese r the sacha sauce (in the silver can)as main addins + white minced raddish + soysauce + touch of sesame oil + pnut powder + spring onion + ur fav choices then mixed well. Sacha is the main key ingrid. for sauce. tks again. will stay tune n thumb up for ur vdos.

Hey mark, love this video This hot pot looked amazing. I wanted to make a quick suggestion, though. You should try cooking the meat first and enjoying it before adding any vegetables to the soup. The veggies soak up all the flavors and don't leave much flavor for the rest of the items; so if you put the meat first, you end up with a delicious meaty base to cook the veggies in You don't have to do it that way, just though I'd suggest it

Hello Mark and Ying great video as always. I love shabu shabu, or China Hot Pot. For me the most important is a very good meat quality, and the self-mixed sauces. Sauces are important for the taste. The difference between China Hot Pot, and Taiwan Shabu Shabuis big. The chili broth in China Hot Pot is much hotter, than the Shabu ShabuBut both taste delicious. Great video. Keep it up. From me always thumbs up.

Dang Mark that's a lot of pepper in one bite lol it reminds me of my older sister. She eats chili paste by a spoonful even though the pepper makes her sweat she loves pepper too much. I only dip mine in a little pepper to make it a little spicy. Every time I make pepper paste it never last because she loves pepper lol

Hi Mark, you made me homesick though. The secrets of the hot pot base of the soup is sugar cane juice. One of the Best hot pots in Taipei. BTW, the soft long thing is fish cake, and the dark brown thing are fried pork rib should be cooked into the hot pot, you can't just chew then directly.
