Download my free street food guide: Lan Jia Gua Bao ) is one of the most popular and most well known street food stalls in Taipei that serves gua bao, a Taiwanese pork belly sandwich. Sometimes known as a Taiwanese burger or hamburger, a gua bao consists of a piece of steamed Chinese bread (similar to the bread thats used in any Chinese baozi steamed bun, filled with braised pork belly and in this case some braised greens, topped with peanuts and maybe a few extra small seasonings, and then wrapped into the bun and served. Lan Jia Gua Bao ) is located near Gongguan MRT station and just a short walk from National Taiwan University, and so when we arrived the entire street was just packed out full of students - most of whom I assume went to the nearby university. The stall is so popular that it, along with the Taiwanese bubble tea restaurant next door, combine to nearly shut down the entire corner of the street due to the amount of people. So anyway, the line at Lan Jia Gua Bao ) didnt take too long, and it was soon my time to order one of these treasured Taiwanese pork belly sandwiches. She first took a piece of steamed bread, which was kept hot and fresh on a steamer before being used. Then filled in a combination of half fatty and half meaty braised pork, and then added in some braised mustard greens (I think, and finally sprinkled on some sweet crushed peanuts. She then folded it like a giant taco and served it to me. Along with my gua bao, I also tried their corn soup, another famous thing they serve at Lan Jia Gua Bao. I wasnt thinking the corn soup would be all that great, but it was actually incredibly good - with a really pronounced corn flavor, and with tender chunks of pork within as well. After getting our gua bao, we then went across the street to a place called Chen San Ding, perhaps and even more famous street food stall, known for serving the famous Taiwanese boba bubble milk drink. Im not really sure if it was really supposed to be tea or not, but this version tasted tea-less, only with the boba bubbles, which had a bit of a molasses brown sugar flavor to them, and creamy milk. Ying my wife really liked it, but it wasnt my favorite. I know that bubble tea It is my favorite bubble tea in the world. I would recommend to drink that bubble tea without shaking it. When you drink it, you can feel the warmness of the moji balls and then instantly turn into coldness from the milk tea above. I found it to be very awesome drinking experience I have never tried before. Also, you can taste the tea flavor stronger without shaking and mixing the tea and the balls together. I hope next time you should try not to mix it together too, Mark

That drink indeed had no tea in it. It's basically milk with tapioca balls that's been cooked in brown sugar, that's why you tasted the caramel flavor. The milk and the taste of that brown sugar are what makes it different from your normal bubble tea. That store is famous for that drank, they claim to be the inventor. You can find the same drink in many tea shops nowadays in Taiwan, but many people still think that store makes the best.

Hey Mark, I haven't seen your videos in over a year and I really liked this video I was always interested to see what kind of food you are trying but honestly for a while you keep making this same exaggerated face every time you eat something(and I'm not sure if you've realized but it's literally the same face every video) it's super ingenuine and cringy and just turned me off but the recent ones have become much better

I used to have a homestay student from Taiwan. She told me students always had to study, so her mom buys her Snacks and did her chores. She finished high school in Vancouver, but move to Alberta for Uni. I found her on FB she's married with a baby. Milk tea and bubble tea are also popular here where I live, but it's not really good for you.

Hi Mark and Ying great video. Pork Belly Sandwich, is a typical and popular Taiwanese snack. Looks like a very simpleSandwich, but not everyone can do it well. But you could see where such a long line of local Taiwanese is, it has to taste great. Great video as always. Thumbs up
