Bhutan Food and Travel Guide - Day 1: My wife and I flew from Bangkok to Paro, Bhutan on Druk Air. We landed in Paro, and it was about an hour taxi ride to get to Thimphu, which is the largest city in Bhutan, and where we were going to base ourselves. After getting settled into the My Bhutan house, we headed out to the Thimphu Farmers Market, a local produce market. Bhutanese food lunch at Kalden Restaurant - For my first ever Bhutanese food meal, we headed over to Kalden Restaurant, a local restaurant in Thimphu. We ordered ema-datse, which is the Bhutanese food national dish of chilies and cheese, plus a number of other cheese dishes, which we ate over rice. It was an amazing first Bhutanese meal. Indian vegetarian food dinner at New Grand Restaurant - We ordered a spread of dishes including aloo ghobi, and one of my personal favorite, chili paneer. It was an amazing first day, flying from Bangkok to Paro, Bhutan, and then on to Thimphu. I was blown away by my first Bhutanese food meal Disclosure: It was an honor to be invited by MyBhutan to visit Bhutan to explore Bhutanese food and culture. Your Bhutan videos are really wonderful Mark I went to Bhutan in Feb 2018. I LOVE BHUTAN because of many reasons mainly the beauty of the scenery and the people and the feel to be in the Himalaya. For people who are concerned about cost. the normal minimum fee of 250 dollars is only 200 dollars in the winter months. And quite frankly, the weather in February was very pleasant since there is much more sun than in the summer. And with regard to the minimum daily fee. if one researches carefully. one can find an operator where the minimum fee may include everything including airfare in and out of the country, all meals, all transportation, guide, driver, very good hotels etc. In my case we used a company called Bestbhutantravel located in Ho Chi Minh City which is a subsidiary of Bestbhutantravel of Singapore. The company has occasional direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Paro and it was really nice to join one of those flights making everything so much easier. And quite frankly, the quality of the lodgings were excellent being four and five stars including the Nak Sel Resort at Paro. When considering how much was included, and the quality of everything provided. the 200 USD daily charge really was not so high after all. With respect to Besbhutantravel. everything promised was delivered plus plus.

Hi Mark. Big fan of you and your videos And watching your Bhutan trip is very helpful in our preparations to go there soon. However i have a comment that i keep noticing in most of your videos. Rather then trying out the individual food by itself with the main staple of rice or noodles, you tend to pile it on like a buffet? How can you appreciate the taste of the different dishes when everything is packed on a plate like mixed rice? Wouldnt it be better to try each dish by itself first, then add to the rice or noodles and see its accompanying taste? Just my thoughts. Sorry.

Dude, you never eat anything that you don't respond to in the same exact way. It would be cool if you were a bit more candid and honest and actually responded skeptically or negatively--- in a real kind of way, a natural way. I've never seen you say you didn't like something. I like your videos a lot, otherwise. It would just be better if you expressed more honesty. I don't know, maybe that is more difficult to do than said when you are a public figure.

Love this series on Bhutan. It's my dream someday to live a simple life in a country like Bhutan for a year or two. I'm not a huge fish fan so their use of meats like pork, lamb, chicken and beef are right up my alley. The unique fruits and veggies, herbs and spices look delicious.
