Today we re going to two of the most legendary barbecue smoke houses in the United States. They do everything the traditional way - using only hard woods. We ll begin with the original Scott s Bar-B-Que in Hemingway, South Carolina and continue to Rodney Scott's BBQ in Charleston. Scott s Bar-B-Que: To begin, we started where it all began, in the small town of Hemingway, South Carolina. The bbq was excellent and I especially enjoyed the ribs and the chicken. Rodney Scott's BBQ: It was an honor to spend a few hours with one of America s best pitmasters Rodney Scott. I asked him what makes good bbq, and he immediately answered patience, hard wood, good proteins, music and storytelling. Rodney also sprinkles on seasoning, spoons out the meat, and uses a mop to add sauce! LekkerDops: I'm from Australia, we love BBQing, but honestly, nothing beats American BBQ. The pit men down there in the southern states have so much personality and generations of knowledge. We just couldn't do it as well here, you need that magic mojo they have in spades.

Mark, I have been watching you since before Micah was born. This is my first time commenting. When you took that first bite of that pulled pork, I thought to myself, I haven't seen that face in a long time so I know it is xtra good. I live in Philadelphia but I remember when Anthony Bourdain went probably over 10 yrs. or more. My aunt and I were just talking about this place yesterday, and you pop up here today.

What a great great great video all that food looks so so good all the guys that make the food in this video or number 11 is not better than the other they are all great great cooks and have a great great attitude thank you Mark Wiens and thank you to all those great guys cooking all that good good meat

The sound when he spoons the Hogg is just so mouth watering, you can hear the tenderness from the fat and the pork when it sounds like that, you know it definitely must be the best of the best! Can't imagine how hard it would be to work at a place like that without getting massively fat

While watching a whole hog being smoked is impressive, but the meats served doesn't look as good as Memphis BBQ. But I want to be proven wrong. I'll take a trip down to Charleston to have some RS BBQ.

I live about 20 min from Scott's BBQ in Kingstree SC an as kids we would drive to Hemingway after school to get a BBQ sandwich every Thurs since they were only open Thursday Friday and Saturday

Come to Munford TN. We are right outside of Memphis which is known for BBQ. And I'll show you a great meal and lots of fun! We are river rats lol and we know how to put together a good bbq

So they re using a NC style in SC. Interesting. SC is almost always mustard based sauce.
Vinegar and red pepper flake sauce is hot we do it from south VA to apparently north SC. Proper.

The pig skin, the crackling, is absolutely my favourite part of the pig. Every time I'm at a hog roast I try to beg for as much crackling as possible.

I finally made this very pilgrimage trip last year. It was amazing and awesome cooking. unfortunately, I didn't like the Carolina style of vinegar bbq.
