David and Anna Posey, the husband and wife team behind Chicago's Elske not only know how to make good food, but they know where to go to eat (lots of) it too. From high-end bar food at The Loyalist, to Mexican inspired dishes at Todos Santos, cocktails at Estereo, and bone-in pork sandwiches at Jim's Original, David, Anna, and their friends go on a marathon night of eating in the Windy City. They come across great mezcal cocktails along the way, fueling them up for a late night meal of pizza and chicken wings with secret Friggin' Valley ranch (it-s just Hidden Valley. With a surplus of good friends and good food, it's clear that it's no coincidence that elske is Danish for love

There's an unsettling agenda to this series i've noticed over the years. I've waited patiently for Munchies to start highlighting chefs who elevate traditional, local fare in whatever city they're in, but instead have featured restaurateurs that impose obscure, trendy foreign cuisines onto a narrowly-focused, like-minded clientele. I spent all my youth and years afterward in Chicago, and never once came within a mile of anything with bone marrow or ramen, yet these foods are highlighted by Munchies and Eater as THE foods to eat in the city, instead of Kielbasa and breaded steak. GTFOH with that

Damn. Do ya'll ever document anyone who isn't a White, urban, middle class, gentrification supporting college grad? Black, hispanic, Asian, Arab, etc people all make food too. How bout' people from different classes? Ages? Add some level of social variant or diversity. You could also call this series -White liberal Chefs with little appreciation for the roots of the cities they've migrated to, eat food no one else can afford-. lmao

Best episode! I love Elske, Anna even chatted with me about some fermentation stuff last time I went. And Ryan from Blackbird is the shit as well. Probably the best Instagram page ever.

An above average episode of an excellent series! David and Anna and their crew look like really nice people. Would love to hang out with them. Elske is a fitting name for their place.

Remember when Chef's Night Out episodes came out constantly? Those were the days. -I'm sure it's not very expensive, because it's great advertising for every place involved.

I live a block away from Estereo and I can confirm that it truly is the shit. especially in the summertime, especially if you enjoy obscure latin rhythms.

So I live in Chicago and I swear to God I'm mapping this exact eating trail out for my friends visiting from the UK. Thanks Munchies and chefs.

The video was going great until I witnessed people dipping pizza into ranch. -That shit's not allowed. It's up there with ham and pineapple pizza.

See now that's a chef he based his -thing- on something that he loves the FLAVOR it inserts into things but still makes his own flavors. Amazing
