. Gee brother. why you couldn't share the other half of that beef patty with me: (---I tasted an actual mom and pop Jamaican store beef patty. Wow. The outer crust was cruncy, inside was not too soft and it was flaky and airy. The meat was spicy and it had a lot of Carribean flavor. It also had a coco bread with it. If you ever want to taste actual Jamaican beef patties try to find the small mom and pop stores that make them every day.

Uhhhh Anyone tried this recipe yet? I did and the quantity of turmeric and curry in the dough made me so nauseous! Ive made beef patties before but it-s been a while and thought of following this recipe. But I think those quantities are too much. Was supposed to give my siblings patties for QuarentEaster but I wouldn-t dare serve this and be disowned.

If you are not a spice junky, just do one pepper, and avoid the seeds and the white membrane in the pepper. I personally like to take two or three (seedless) and fry them in oil (more than usual, then take them out and strain the oil out, then use them. It will still be spicy, you get all of the flavor, but you can actually taste the other ingredients.

We used to eat those when we were young and lived in The Big Apple. Brings back sweet memories of my dad. I-m not Jamaican, but was born in Jamaica Queens and when we went out riding and shopping, etc, those meat patties were a treat to us.

He also won chopped and was featured on TVJ. I'm sure he hit the right flavour notes that a true Jamaican understands but the patty could have looked a bit better. I wil definitely try this recipe, it's as authentic as it comes.

Made these today, and enjoyed thank you! Used butter, cause no beef fat. Added carrot, and extra garlic. ( Used dark soy, sweat dark soy, oyster sauce, & Worcestershire sauce instead of Browning, and no sugar in filling)

As a half Jamaican myself, I approve of this. But you don't want too much habaneros or crunchy peppers in your patty. You gotta taste whatever meat you're going with. Whether it's beef, chicken, or even shrimp.

people who like it spicy actually taste the flavor, a misconception of people who can't eat spicy because their mouth is on fire and fully numbed. Spicy eaters' mouth are just more resistant to spice than most.
