Ill have to give this a try. For my noodle soup I normally do 2 litres chicken stock, 2 tsp garlic, 2 tsp garlic paste, thyme, a bay leaf and 300g chicken breast. Bring to the boil then let simmer for 20 minutes. Pull the chicken breast out and shred it (it shreds really nicely) put your chicken back in with sliced carrot, celery, peas, corn give it another 15 minutes at a simmer then add my egg noodles 10 mins out from eating. Im excited to try it with onion and cooking of the veg first!

Yeah, I make mine with Orzo. Separate from my soup. Add it afterwards. Chicken breast parboiled separate from the soup, shredded and added during cooking. Yeah, and Sam's right! Sons don't get along with thier fathers! It's a control thing the father's can't let go of! My 85 year old father still treats me like I'm still 15 years old! But I'm 62? That will drive a 62 year old man insane!

I may or may not have also added too many noodles! :D I don't care. I've always been one who prefers to eat soup with a fork. I added a big spash of soy, I probably should have added a small splash and a half. For what it's worth, just cooking this saw me lose 5kg. After eating it, I lost another 10kg. Thanks Sam, you rock! All my weight loss needs in one recipe!

One thing Ive added at the start of my soup is fry up a bit of smoked prosciutto in the bottom of the pot with a touch of oil before I add the veggies and stock. You will have to make your Im trying this for the first time despite having eaten this before and know exactly whats coming face two to three more times per spoonful. Good show. Keep me coming.

I had some frozen chicken breasts thawing in the fridge and no idea what to do with them. 10 minutes later they were sizzling and browning on the griddle while I got the stock ready. I added some shell noodles and rice (what I had on hand) and it was one of the best bowls of soup I've had in ages. thanks for the inspiration!

SAM THE COOKING GUY - Better Than Bouillon? Seriously? That's processed stock base ruined the entire soup because you're too lazy. The worst thing is that you're proud to advise people that its a good option. You should be ashamed of yourself for recommending Better Than Bouillon as your stock base.

This is the exact way I make my chicken soup right down to the better than bouillon. I never tried a bay leave though, maybe I'll try that next time. I also like to do a flour & milk slurry and mix that in and let it cook a while to thicken it for a kind of cream of chicken soup.

Just tried this and the family loved it! Used large elbow macaroni since thats all I could find. And, like Sam, used a bit too much but just added more broth and it was perfect, especially with some fresh French bread! Thanks Sam, another great recipe and so dang easy to make!
