5-Minute Vs. 50-Minute Vs. 5-Hour Steak George T: I have some mentions: - Never put salt on a steak before cooking. It draws out the juices from it, it dries it out. You can watch Salt Bae doing this. - Never use honey on high temperatures. And dont eat cooked honey, even from restaurants because many people dont know what they are doing. Honey cooked at high temperatures becomes toxic, edible but bad for your stomach and liver. Also, the amount is too much. If you want, just cook with soy sauce and glaze with honey after. - Never overcook garlic. Not only that it becomes bitter, but the flavor is gone and it will give you heartburns- Yes, too much butter, but not only that, you use too much carbs from starch and sugars in the recipes. A steak usually has huge nutritional value, but you can spoil it with side-dishes like mashed potatoes with excess butter, bread, honey, etc because they add mostly empty calories and in pretty high quantity. A loaf of bread like that you just serve is equivalent of a 25oz soft drink. Leave the steak alone and just add a bit of sauce, spices and a few herbs or greens, maybe a salad.

Hi Alvin, I hope youre doing great. Could you pls talk a bit more about the seasoning? There are huge debates on different blogs when it comes to salting and putting pepper on the steak. I used to season only with pepper right before putting in the pan, but from the big heat, it can burn and will have a strange taste. If I use salt some juices might come out on the surface before putting in the pan, which I consider is a waste. But not seasoning the steak at all is also no option. Id love to hear your comments on this one. Thx

This is why you americans are cute; you pronounce the end of a statement as if it were a question with that rising inflection - it actually has a lot of fat and a lot of flavour? (thats how to spell flavour by the way, but you also measure things using cups. Like what 2 year olds do. How many grams or mls is that? Err, a cup? Ok american. Lets use cups. Nice video by the way. Looks delicious.

Yo Tasty, what is that salt, I see every pretentious cook/chef/Gordon Ramsay use this weird white chunky salt, and I always see you guys throw a shit ton of it, if I did this with sea salt or regular rock salt -- that steak would go straight to trash because it would be unbearably salty, so again, what type of salt is it?

Wow. wasting so much butter when making the mashed potatoes. So unhealthy, and so unnecessary - all you need is half a glass ( a small one) of hot, molten butter, one eggyolk, some milk and finish it off with some salt and pepper. Easier, and healthier.

Some anal retentive jerk off chef, in some shi shi restaurant, is giving his staff a hard time. That chef will die in relative anonymity. This young, seemingly nice, relaxed guy. has 14. 5 million subs Poetic justice.

Expert comment here. Do not do the reverse sear thingy. First sear it and then put it into oven. To be completely sure, I took two rib eye steaks and done both ways simultaneously. Searing first makes a HUGE difference.

For the 5 hour steak which Im def gonna try. I think Id have done the mashed potatoes in the oven to get a golden finish on it as well. Its so good with red wine sauce and filet mignon

cooks steak for 5 hours doesnt heat plate before putting everything on it tip: microwave or put the plate in the oven instead of microwaving everything else, plate heats everything as it sits
