Delicious Homemade Baked Alaska As Made By Alix S3lvah: I would make a thicker layer of meringue coating, and a thinner layer of cake. The trapped air in the meringue helps insulate the ice cream and keep it frozen for longer. (When the ice cream starts melting, the meringue might slip off as seen at 3: 30) Plus, since the meringue is airy and light, there should be plenty of it for it to really be noticeable next to the ice cream and cake. Also, you could use a microwave mug cake recipe in a deep dish the diameter of your ice cream bowl. Faster than making traditional cake from scratch.

YOU DO NOT NEED A TORCHYes using a torch means it's almost impossible to melt the ice cream which is great but that doesn't mean if you don't have one that you HAVE TO go out and buy it. What you do if you don't have a torch is put it in the oven on the highest hear you have and wait till parts of the outside start to brown. Just like it looks in the video at the end. Make sure before you put it in the oven that the ice cream is completely covered by the meringue or it will melt which you don't want. Make sure the ice cream was in the freezer JUST BEFORE you put it on the sponge cause you need to keep the ice cream as cold as possible so make sure that oven is pre heated

I'm not being argumentative but I need to correct you about that comment on the Swiss Meringue being the most stable. The Italian Meringue is the most stable of all three meringues due to the cooked sugar component. If it's changed since I've been to culinary school, then they need to make that edit in my course materials. Just an FYI

That looks delicious, Alix And you're beautiful, as always. Just to change it up a bit, maybe some Cinnamon Bun/almost anything ice cream from Ben & Jerry's over some classic sticky buns, using the usually powdered sugar glaze OR an always chewy caramel, as frosting. Anyone else?

My brother and I have birthdays a day apart (six years apart tho) and we always have baked Alaska for our family party. We make it in pie form though. So we get a graham cracker crust, put ice cream is it, and mirange on top. Its really good

We call it Bombe Alaska. Back in my unit time the college I stayed (couldn't get the dormitory so I stayed with the Theological College) they served the Bombe Alaska twice a week after dinner and it was the bomb. :)

Good News TranslationAll of us were like sheep that were lost, each of us going his own way. But the LORD made the punishment fall on him, the punishment all of us deserved. Isaiah 53: 6

Arent these things supposed to be set on fire? Also thinking about it, baked Alaska is basically ice cream cake. Except for all the unnecessary extra eggs aka meringue all over the top

Make two batches of brownies, a small pan and the other for what will be the base. Chop or crumble small chunks of the brownie in to each layer of ice cream. It was soooooo delicious.

If you look a Alixs left hand, she has a ring on her index finger and thumb, the person doing all the cooking has no rings to be seen. Basically, Alix is just a narrator.
