I started off using plastic and I never had a problem washing the acrylics off if I did so quickly. however yesterday I saw a video at artists network with Barry McCann, an acrylic artist who does portraits and he had a glass palette that I want to try! I had just finish watching your video when I was looking for inspiration from another acrylic artist and I was so happy to find out that he sketches his works and then transfers them just as you said who is canvas first and then basically just fills in the sketch with incredible results

I use both paper plates and a white Corelle brand plate (sturdy. Don't know which is less harmful to the environment, throwing the paper plates away, or cleaning the white plate and having the paint residue go down the drain: /
I have that same wooden palette. I don't like using those so I'm going to paint it with chalkboard paint and hang it on my wall for a little chalkboard: )

I use a sheet of plexiglass - I like it because it's see through so I can set it on top of my canvas and see exactly how the colors I'm mixing will look with what is already there. It's also easy to peel the paint off when it's dried too so I can use it over and over. Just another idea: )

I use the little plastic thingee with the scoops
in it - that you didn't recommend. I just soak 'em in hot water and soap after I use them. The paper plates seem so luxurious after my humble tray but I just couldn't live with myself throwing them out every day. Thanks, very interesting.

I got one plastic palette and once the acrylics dried I can just peel them off in one piece scrub the rest off under water with soap and a hard brush and it looks like I just bought it.

another good video- love your style! One other idea for a palette is the styrofoam meat trays from the grocery store. They come in many sizes too! Wash well before using.

I have got a wooden pallet when i first started, but never used it.
Mostly just use plastic plates, for the same reason you uses the paper ones: )
