So this is off-topic, but- that moment where you split up the egg-s shadows and explained the tangent answered my biggest question about shading spheres!
-How do you find the minor axis of the ellipse that makes the shadow? -
I figured out that the major axis of the ellipse was made by the light rays (well, the lines the light rays make when the hit the surface, but the minor axis eluded me. Then you brought that tangent up, and I realized that the minor axis of the ellipse HAS to be parallel to that tangent!
Thanks for helping me see the light!

Man I wish you didn't waste so many eggs for this. It's not your fault that you don't know what happens in that industry, but the hen whose eggs you have used has gone through so much trauma, cancer, protrusions, weakness of bones and cartilage, more than you can imagine. I love your content and I hope you don't do this in the future.

5. 54 I don't understand. Why would i want to alter the cast shadow to mimic the form it's being cast unto. the way I see it, especially in still life drawing, if the cast shadow of the egg on the tissue is not curved in real life, isn't that just how it's supposed to be? why alter it. Please help me understand.

When drawing the reflected light, what determines where it is (when the majority or all of the form is in shadow)
im often left with a flat shading and no idea which parts should be lighter or darker, especially when practicing an egg shading thats mostly dark

Someone explain to me please how I can figure out where to place the highlight. I-m actually not sure if that was an explanation I didn-t get or just an example, but I-d still like to Linda know it before breaking it

But see then, that makes you can change where the light source is though. I don't know where people get the -light always comes from the top left position- from.

If you wanna be more confused, learn about Monte Carlo's Path Tracing, which is basically how programs like Blender render graphics.
