Joanie: That was the first time I heard to partially leave an inground bed uncovered. I had a scrap piece of clear greenhouse poly over one bed to keep the leaves from blowing away. Then I opened it up temporarily so the rain could get through. If I don't keep it covered, it will be bare. The clear poly is to help it warm up.

Great video thanks! It confirms what we did this morning. My husband, son, and I spent 3 hours pulling weeds and flowering winter crops for the compost, filling our low raised beds with new soil, covering areas with mulch and storing the rest of the soil we had delivered. Tiring, but now it is looking much better. Had to get it done today because CA gets more rain tomorrow.

Great video! Last year I bought some seed starting garden straw for mulching and it was a nightmare. Huge plants of I am assuming wheat came up and was everywhere. It was a mess and I just gave up where I had things planted. Any advise on what to mulch with or how to avoid that?

Awesome video! I'm currently working on some trellising, irrigation, and some small structures surrounding my gardens. I'm going to undertake the task of some soil testing and amendments this week before I start planting anything next month!

I m zone 4 so spring is a long way off lol. Like had a blizzard all day but I had to laugh about tool upkeep. My upkeep is conveniently leaving them on my hubby s desk and they magically reappear sharpened and maintained

It's so cold here in Tennessee I think I'm the only person who still has not mowed their yard I'm so ready to get out there and start planting some seeds! My goals to DIG up some Lillie's and Iris and GIVE them away

I live in an apt. I don't got space for this. Well, except on the fire escape but that's where the birds roost. Sometimes I leave the blinds open and when I wake up there are several staring at me with their beady bird eyes.

My region tends to think it dosnt need a Spring time. And vinegar does eat rust but it will flash rust the metal, especially if you dont get it all off or if you dont oil the metal rite away

Question: I bought your mentors book, one foot gardening or something comparable I can t recall while not here. Where do you get vermiculite that isn t comically expensive?

Looks awesome! Kevin, can you give us an updated, in depth tour of your irrigation setup? Every time I've used a soaker hose, the back end doesn't get enough water.

I have my seeds organized everything is planned for but snow is still coming once a week. If it were not for seed starting I the basement it would be pretty bleek.

Can I (please) use oak leaves for mulch? They say they have tannins, but I have so many free leaves from my front yard. Hate to buy straw if I can use oak.

Oh no Jacques! You should at least take your tools inside! I never leave my tools out. You spend good money on them so you should keep them safe.
