I'll keep these cleaning tips in mind, for some rusted hedge trimmers I've been meaning to clean-up. One tip I've heard lubricates your tools, as well as protecting them from the elements (if you do happen to leave them outside) is spraying with WD-40. Works like a charm. Makes rusted, immovable tools, move again!

Good vid mate. Love all your stuff.
You really don't need the salt in your mix.
Just straight up vinegar will do the exact same. ;; ) the thing I like about you most is you don't over complicate shizzle so I figure you'd appreciate.
Peace mate.

Great ideas. Loving all your instruction.
Im a bit lazy. Warm the vinegar first to almost boiling. Put the tool in. Within two hours, easiest cleaning. A little rubbing on tough parts. Just warm vinegar again and put back in for another hour. Wipe clean.

Great info! Question: my pruning shears and sometimes loppers get gummed up. (sap from pine trees) What's the best way to clean that up so they work like new? (My 88 yo farmer dad uses gasoline but there has got to be something better in the 21st century)

ive been using sand paper then cleaning and using spray oil from the kitchen. it doesnt keep them rust free. i would not use wd40 or a toxic lubricant, i dont want it touching my organic veggies

Fabulous. I'm elated that you have links for these tools. I've been pulling my hair out trying to find a sustainable pair of hand clippers. Sheesh, we make things so poorly now! Many thanks!

Ugh, I am SO guilty of leaving my tools out. I'm really glad you made a video of how to revitalize garden tools. I am curious though, would this method work for a chain saw?

I retired May 1st with great plans for gardening, then broke my toe. So, while the weeds grow, I'll clean my tools! Going to go look for a sharpening video now. Thanks!

Obviously. by video evidence. you still do not take proper care of your tools. You should be ashamed. it is a very poor workman who would treat his tools so carelessly.

Wow, this is truly amazing. I'm going to skip purchasing CLR or any of the other rust removing chemicals and go for these options instead. Thank you for sharing this!

Why use the salt? Why not the vinegar on its own? And just rinse in water and not neutralise with baking soda? Just wash away with water. Great tip with 3 in 1 oil.

Water vapour and rain in the air naturally react with carbon dioxide to form carbonic acid. So rain is weakly acidic even without any industrial pollutants.
