Ohh
Erik, you may find that you want to build a cricket (as we call them in the U. S) above your fireplace on the roof so that water/snow sheds away from the fireplace on the uphill side of the roof. While you did all your flashings correctly, above the fireplace on the roof is now a big V shape that can hold water and may cause ice damming during the winter. A cricket, is a small roof, in this case shaped like a hip roof would work well, that will shed the water coming from uphill of the chimney to the sides of the chimney. I just had to spend the last week having people install this very thing for me on a house I am building.
You have done a great job with building your cabin. Thank you for including us all as you go through this journey.

I really enjoy that you just show how things are done, properly, not reacting to people making things the wrong way. Not that I always totally agree with your methods.
It reminds me of my father, when we were going to the store or something he would point to a construction site or something and say they will have a problem with mold later. It confused me at the time that he didn't tell the builders, but now I know that it's impossible to teach people who don't understand.
Leading by example is the best way!

Its amazing to see what you have built. You truly have learnt your art well.
Looks like you are heading into winter, hopefully will get to see some of your beautiful country in the snow.
So much respect for what you have achieved so far, and wish you all the best in the future, whatever it may bring.
Regards from the other end of the world (New Zealand.

amazing work and dedication and craftsmanship. I'm amazed by the skills, drive, and determination. It's so great to see so many different trade skills and how they are all implented into your home. I'm envious as i have almost zero skills building wise, but i want to be able to do what your doing, maybe someday. awesome awesome.

To be honest I was quite skeptical about the fireplace being built with cinder blocks and not natural stone (which would've been the logical choice, knowing you). but now that it is plastered, it looks pretty good. Well done!
6: 01 - This hand concrete mixer is cool. never seen one before

I fantasized my daughter might be so lucky as to become your bride. Alas, it s not to be. I can think of no better partner for a young woman, a handsome man steeped in the old ways, yet finding his own unique pathway to great success in the modern world.

Use the straight edge of a knife to scrape the cutting board. Otherwise you risk scratching the wood and also dulling the knife's sharp edge. Your stew will taste much better if you carmelize the onions and garlic before adding lightly floured meat pieces.

Oh my god the last shot was so magical and what a perfect ending!
Lovely video as always and your girl is so beautiful! Just please stop using the sharp side of the knives to push the food off the board, it makes the knife dull. Use the other side!

When you took the time to make sure those logs mated up together instead of chinking it really paid off. Very cozy and no chinking to replace periodically. It was a lot of extra work but that's craftsmanship and well worth the effort

Erik I don t know what I admire more. Your vision or your ability. I have a female Weimaraner and when I am working on something she is never more than arms reach away, just like your pooch. Great video as usual.

What a beautiful transformation Erik the chimney stove is just magnificent. not many young guys like yourself would even built a cabin from the start using primitive tools. Simply the best I have ever seen Erik.

Much of this confuses me but I love it. I'm wondering when it was recorded, should always say for the record.
Aw man he didn't press hard in the lower right corner. But how did you fix it?

Has your girlfriend/wife told you to put a floor on that front porch yet? Just imagine both of you sitting in your rocking chairs, drinking that fantastic Swedish coffee, early in the morning.

Now he's forging too! I'd really like to know if there's anything Erik can't do! Incredibly good work.
And if you don't totally relax when watching the vids, it's your own fault.
